12. Can I do a complete system backup with SD card-run Nookie Froyo?[/B]

Yes. If you're using a PC, insert your SD card (in an SD reader), open Win32DiskImager (the same program you burned your bootable SD card with). This time, instead of choosing the .img file to burn, you're going to name an .img file to save. *To do this, select the drive of your card and push READ. This will give you a backup image that you can then restore in the exact same way you burned the card originally.

I tried to back up image but i keep getting error 8 cant get a handle on the file.
Does anyone have any other suggestions fro writing a backup .img?

has any one tried macrium for .img backup?

Will---

Anyway to get the links in the OP updated? The market link as well as the Androidpolicy.jar files are dead. "Dropbox 403 Error"

please advise. Thank you sir.

I'm running Nookie Froyo from the SD card and can't get ANY video files (you tube or any other) to play. I had the same thing happen when I rooted my original Droid but can't seem to find the fix. Any suggestions? I've tried the recommended media players also and those don't work either. Thanks.

Does anyone know anyother way?

Hey guys, I know it's not a perfect solution, but I found a way to easily move files on to my sd card. I used Linux. I downloaded Ubuntu Netbook Edition and ran it off a flash drive, so I didn't have to install anything on my windows computer. Here is the link to download it with instructions Download | Ubuntu

Steps:
1.Download Ubuntu
2. Install in on a flash drive or CD
3. Reboot your computer, select your boot option (for Dell it's F12)
4. Choose CD or flash drive
5. Once Ubuntu is loaded you can connect your Nook, and it will see the sd card with all the partitions
6. Use the file explorer to copy the data your want over.
7. remove Nook and reboot computer

I know this is a little work, but for me it was the simplest method to move my music, videos, and pictures over.

The tip #7 about downlading the apk file for flash tells me it is noy compatible with this phone. Tried downloading from thr nook as the tip said and install with root explorer, but what am I doing wong? This is useless like an ipad without flash :)

you need to remember to put the location of the image in your PC, not in the SD card. So use something like "C:\nook\froyobackup.img" for the image file, and your SD card for the device and press Read.

Yes.

... This is what I did

1 NEXT POSTER WAS CORRECT< WAS USING WINIMAGE, not WIN32

I'm using a work computer so I am very loath to use Linux, they don't mind little window programs, but that would be a major no no.

Any assistance would be appreciated. All I want to do is make a working copy for a friend and this has turned into a hassle far beyond my expectations.

Thanks for help.

I did not use win image i could not get that program to write the froyo program. Use the win32diskimager r023 (newest avail). I beleive the OP calls this program out. I used it and i have full back up images of froyo,HC and now Cm7.

Thank you Ndinfla,

Downloaded win32diskimager r023 and followed instructions....

New SD will not boot, the NC was reluctant to start and when it finally did it booted into NC Standard.... any suggestions?

I am not sure i have an answer for that. Are you sure the image is on the card?

Any chance the links to android.policy.jar & services.jar can get fixed or someone can repost?

Open Root Explorer, navigate to system/, mount as r-w, and open build.prop in a text editor. Find the line that starts with ro.build.fingerprint= and change it to the following:

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.1-update1/ESE81/29593:user/release-keys

Now from your homescreen, hit Menu>settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All, and find Market. Select clear cache, and then force stop. Then, still under All, find Google Services Framework, and hit wipe data, and then force stop. Reboot, and many more apps should show up!

Edit, NVM, bought Root Explorer from the Market and figured it out, Thanks :D

Does anyone know if the empty cell bar trick will help with gameloft games (like nova)? The games only fill a small part of the screen. Also, any way to do this stuff without root explorer?
