Tired of random reboots

My Note 3 has had random reboots for a while. It has two types of random reboots. For one of them, the screen will freeze for a few seconds, and then go black, and proceeds to not turn on until I take the battery out and put it back in. The second is when the screen does the same thing, but it boots back up by itself. These both seem to happen at random, it is either one or the other. It hasn't happened recently, but sometimes when the screen froze, part of the screen was garbled. It doesn't seem to do that anymore.

Anways, how can I get rid of these random reboots? Thanks in advance.

Does it happen in Safe Mode? If not, then I'd focus on the apps you've installed.

Have you tried unmounting and removing the SD card, in case it's corrupt?

Since you've been around these forums for a bit, I'm assuming you've tried the usual cache partition wipe.

Thanks for the reply. I tried a cache partition wipe last night. No random reboots so far. But then again, sometimes the random reboots happen days apart. So I will have to wait a couple of days to see if it solved the problem.

I don't have an SD card, so I don't need to worry about that. And, I have not booted it up into safe mode, I wanted to exhaust all of my other options first.

I will report back if I have another random reboot. Thanks again for the reply.

Good news and bad news. The good news is that after wiping my cache partition, I didn't experience a random reboot for a week (the longest my Note 3 has ever gone without a random reboot). The bad news is that I just experienced a random reboot a few minutes ago. Since wiping the cache partition helped alleviate the problem significantly, does that mean that it is not a hardware problem? And BTW, I already checked my battery for swelling. None to be found.

Since it is a problem that is helped by a software fix, it may be a software problem. I think the first thing to try may be a reset. This will allow the OS framework to rebuild itself. Copy anything you don't want to lose yo your PC and reset when ready. The only other thing I can think of is to reflashing the ROM with Odin.

My note 3 on sprint has done the same two types of reboots several times the past few weeks. In youtube a few times or when I leave apps open for a while and then go back to them. I don't really want to do a factory reset. I always loose something.

My first note 3 rebooted randomly. Sometimes after a few minutes other times days apart. I returned it and got a new one and have experienced zero reboots since. Before returning it I tried the cashe partition wipe and a few factory resets to no avail. I had not added the sd card yet so that wasn't causing it.
