Titanium Backup Help Thread

Titanium backup force close

Rooted my stock EA28 fascinate using OneClick method (thanks DroidXcon), Downloaded Titanium Backup and paid for Pro. Everything seems fine except Ti keeps forceclosing when trying a backup individually or in batch. Searched the dev's wiki's for tips/FAQ/trouble shooting. Tried the suggestions, disable market link, reset market database, set the processing mode to "AUTO, Indirect", enable the "USB debugging". Nothing worked. Searched force close on the app forum. Came up with an Evo with same problem. Said it was trying to backup to internal instead of SD card. Checked my Fasc, looks like that's not the problem.

Didn't expect to get stumped at this step. Any ideas?
Thanks,
JB

Titanium backup help

I thought with Ti backup it would save my apps and the info in them? For example I have password keeper. Luckily I wrote the passwords down, but when I backed up and resored, the app was there but no information.

Any ideas?

Did you restore apps and app data or just apps? Go into backup/restore, find the password keeper app, click on it, click restore and click restore data. See if that helps

Titanium Backup Force close

I am attempting to do a full backup to my Fascinate before I do a ROM upgrade to Froyo. When I run Ti Backup it force closes everytime. It does it when I do just the apps or the apps and the system data.

Any suggestions to help fix this would be great...Thanks.

Thanks gunnermike53 for the suggestion, but I still get the force close after clearing the cache. The error is stopping at Process.com.Keramides.TitaniumBackup....not sure what else to do.

Good suggestion wyllic. Yes, make sure when you restore through TiBu you use the option of restore missing apps with data.

Sometimes storage files don't show back up when you restore them until after you reboot. Not sure if it will help in this instance, but maybe.

Just to cover the bases, when you open titanium backup did you click the "problems?" button?

ok thanks for all the help. ok now maybe a silly question, but how do I remove files that I don't want to back up. For example I dont' use handcent and all the font packs anymore but every time I backup and restore, they magiclly appear again!

You can uninstall apps in one of two ways: 1) Go into the market, hit the menu soft key, choose my apps, scroll to the app you want to uninstall, click on it and choose uninstall; or 2) hit the menu soft key and go applications=>manage applications=>all, scroll to the app you want to uninstall, click on it, and click uninstall.

Also in TiBu when you do a batch restore you can scroll through the list of apps and uncheck any you don't want to restore.

boot to recovery, go to advanced and clear dalvick cache. then reboot. dont worry you wont loose anything this way.

if that doesnt work you need to figure what apps you can live with out backing up and which ones you need to back up. there may be an alternative way to back up each app individually. this will get you by until you can do a proper data and cache wipe.

ockness, when doing a restore through titanium backup you need to use the option of restoring missing apps with data. Do not restore all apps or use any of the options that restores system data.

funny thing is...I've uninstalled then numerous times, both ways and they just keep showing up.....I'm going to uncheck them in Ti backup.
thanks
