Try it, worked like a charm for me. I tried it because I don't have Wi-Fi at work so even if I would have received the notification, I wouldnt have been able to download it.

Back up to your SD card first with LG's built in backup tool. After the install, my UI was laggy and buggy. I wiped then restored and now it is as smooth as butter. Compared to Kit Kat, everything seems smoother with greater fluidity. The jumpiness from scrolling has been greatly reduced, especially when going through your home screens.

Thanks. By wiping, do you mean factory reset?

Yes, a factory reset. Just chose the SD card as the location for your back up. I took mine out prior to using the LG Flash tool.

When doing factory reset will the call history get lost?

Call log data is intact. The backup feature restores everything, as long as you tell it to. So far, I haven't found anything that has not been properly restored from my pre-Lollipop phone.

Could you please step by step how you did the upgrade from the point of when 20b is now loaded on your phone ready to use?

Did you skip Lollipop restore, factory reset, skip Lollipop restore again and then restore your LG backup? Would be a great help to know and thanks much.

Prior to doingg anything, I went to Settings- General- Backup and Reset- LG Backup Service- Backup and Restore- Backup.

From there, I chose all the items I wished to back up and saved the file on my SD card, unmounted and removed the card.

Then, I followed the linked instructions step by step.

Once Lollipop was sucessfully installed, then I did a factory reset.

After the reset was completed, I signed in with my Google account, went back into the LG Backup Service and restored from the file saved on my SD card.

After everything was restored, my phone was the way it was on KitKit prior to the upgrade

Hope that helped. Entire process took no more than 15 minutes.

Did you let Google install all apps and then install download apps via LG restart? And thanks because this helps a lot.

This method worked for me this morning. I didn't wipe as I did that yesterday preparing for the OTA. The one thing on the XDA instructions that was different for me was that my phone needed to be fully booted and connected before it would work. The instructions say to start the phone in download mode but that didn't work. I'm now on Lollipop 🍭

Interesting. Glad you got it to work regardless. How do you like the update? Have you noticed improved performance?

I updated to 5.0.1 and now the overheating is worse than ever. Charging is slow, lag is more pronounced, and some of the features are just...irritating. I'm not convinced that it was worth the wait.

Did you do factory reset?

Does the lg backup restore everything including the apps that you have installed? So that when you back everything up, restoring returns the phone back to the way you got it minus new OS version

i did a factory reset and then used lg backup/google to restore most of the apps and info. i don't know if i just need to wait it out and see if it takes, but i've already had to replace the battery twice for overheating issues so maybe it's just the phone.
