I have TMO as my provider. Today is the day that upgrade my never failed me LG G2 !!! You guys think I should buy my G5 from TMO or get an unlocked one ??

Me personally, I would go with the unlocked one, but that's just me. More options for my phone equals good! :-D

It all depends on whether the unlocked version supports all the carrier features. I'm on Verizon and when I had the Nexus 6 unlocked I could not get all of the advanced calling feature or Wi-Fi calling. On the other hand sometimes the carriers lock down certain Phone features.
For example Verizon disabled the FM radio built into the G5 or any of their branded phones.

This. If you want T-Mobile WiFi calling you will need their version.

Happy Phone Day/Week/Month! :)

Going with your carrier is good as you will get a contract with all of the things they promise to offer you. And you'd be able to pay off your G5 slowly in increments as opposed to all at once. But I am a contract person so this is all biased information haha! Only you can make that choice. :) Good luck!

Word of advise do not get the unlocked version. I went through two g5's because the reception or cell signal would drain the battery. The unlocked version will not habe wifi calling and you won't be able to register messages as spam, at least not directly from the sms app.

The constant search for signal in the g5 unlocked version rendered the phone useless. I just got my g5 from T-Mobile and its a blessing.

Can you take a TMO (or any US carrier phone) overseas and use it with another carrier with their sim card?? If the answer is no then I highly suggest an unlocked device!

If you get t-mobile, you could request a temporary unlock (30 days) from an app within the phone(takes 5 secs) or if the device is fully paid you could request a permanent unlock given you've been with the account and phone for 40 days, no payment due. Then you're free to use anywhere.

Honestly the reason i mention this is because my two prior unlocked G5's, i wouldn't have been able to use anywhere unless i traveled with the extra battery in my pocket, that's how bad the battery use was.
