TMobile: 5G Speedtest very poor!

It all depends on your location, T-Mobile is pretty good in my area and S22 Ultra speeds are comparable to other phones I have. May be little better on S22 Ultra but nothing that jumps up in comparison.

Here is test I just did on mine

On the main page, swipe up on the bar right above where it says tmobile and will expose server settings.

@Borgie: may i ask if you're using the app or using just your browser and going to speedtest.net's site to get to the page where you have the OPTION to change the test server?

i'm just using the Chrome browser to do this and i don't see the "change test server" option.

thanks.

i'm thinking that it might be wise to wait a week or so before attempting to call TMobile's tech support about my very slow 5G speeds.

they are so busy with new Samsung phones right now that the wait times would be very long, right?

I think this is going to be the case for at least another couple of years as the carriers gradually build up their 5G networks. I live in the heart of the Silicon Valley, where you'd think we'd have great coverage and great speeds -- but no, the infrastructure in some parts are still pretty dated. At home my 5G speeds on T-Mobile are often a little slower than 4G (like maybe 50 Mbps vs 60-70 Mbps). Since 4G speeds are totally fine for me, I just turn off 5G while I wait for there to be greater strides in the network in my area.

what do you think TMobile will do? they won't likely send someone to YOUR or MY particular cell tower and actually work on it to fix it, right? you think they'll just remotely adjust our respective cell towers to give it an extra boost?

Uh they're not going to do anything. Your speeds are what their low-band 5G network is capable of. In other words, it is working exactly as it is supposed to.

FYI the more people using a 5G phone in the area the slower the speed will be due to congestion. Simply driving a block can drastically change your speeds too.

thanks for all your replies. very much appreciated.

i wonder what i can and should do?

should i just call TMobile's 800 number and file a complaint or report of slow speeds? it's odd that i'm in a major city (very large) and my speeds are so slow.

i don't know what they are willing to do! they wouldn't send a technician to my local towers, right?

Are you seeing 5GUC icon onscreen or only 5G? If you don't see 5GUC then you're not using their 2.5Ghz band which has the most bandwidth/channels for 5G data (aside from the 24Ghz+ bands which have such limited range than any concrete wall renders them useless).
