I would like to start by saying I will donate $50 to the first dev to find out how to root .6, for those of us dummies who lost root by upgrading against the advice of the more experienced android users...

You should post the bounty over at XDA. They actually take bounties to do stuff like that. I'm not looking to try to crack an Evo at this point as my Android knowledge is still pretty light.

But yeah, if you go to Xda-developers, they often have bounties for this kind of stuff. I would search though to make sure you do it right, lol... the android development forum is not great with spam.

i prefer the free route, because tons of people will try it first, usually. i've have had two android phones and with both lost ability to root because of OTAs. i have since learned my lesson and don't accept any OTAs. but for me, i waited (with both devices) about a week after a root method for after OTAs so that i could become familiar with all the hiccups and not experience them myself. the only issues i have ever had while attempting to root where tiny things like forgetting to install htc sync or not realizing my hardware did not meet minimum requirements for SDK.

i think it's better to wait, but if you decide to put up a bounty then i wish you luck!
