To Root or Not To Root GS3

Ok so i have had my gs3 for a little over 3 months and i have yet to look into rooting my gs3. Can anyone recommend a good root utility and are there any advantages to doing so other than custom rom's? I have been very happy with the overall performance, but would like to get rid of a few of the stock apps that att preloads.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

I would recommend SlimBean ROM or CM. Both will give you a very good experience

The CM installer can be used on GS3. It will root the phone and install the most recent stable version of CM.

Or you could root using Odin and flash ROM.

The main reasons to root include removing bloatware, using apps that require root (add block, Greenify, Titanium backup, ROM Toolbox, etc.) and flashing custom ROMs.

Rooting is also needed for installing Xposed Framework, an app that allows you to make shifts in your ROM. Xposed needs to be sideloaded, and can be found in XDA. Some apps have more options once root access is granted to them, additional apps would be the ability to over or underclock your CPU (Tread very lightly in this area. Permanent damage can be done to your device), custom recoveries are a good thing to have, they allow you to back you your current ROM.
