Ok, I just picked up my fascinate(coming from an OG Droid). The Fascinate came with 2.1-update 1. I only run rooted stock, mostly so I can add the free wireless tether and remove the crapware. Every aspect of this phone works properly but I'm missing flash. My question is ... is it worth it to update now, or do the cons outweigh the pros(having flash again).

I would hold off, especially if you are using the tether. The devs have expressed concern that there may be code in the Froyo builds that detects tether usage and they are asking people to hold off until they figure it out.

Also, I would take the time to get to know the Fascinate as it is, then have something cool to update to when the time is right. Thats just me.

the time is right now.

the only thing better about eclaire over froyo is the name. eclaire is kinda sissy, but i love eclaires. my wife makes an awsome chacolate eclaire. yumm. froyo... really? froyo. frozen yogert, thats frikin stupid.

but the build is way better. faster. more apps, flash. the car dock works.

I think both Gunner and bluevolume are right. It's going to depend on how much you depend on things like tethering. Like bluevolume said, there's some serious concern that Verizon has tossed in a tether tracer into both the DL30 and EB01 Froyo builds and may be attempting to charge people accordingly, so if that's a feature you use frequently, I'd hold off, unless you think it's worth the risk.

With that being said, Froyo is also a nice improvement over Eclair. A lot more eye candy, some added features, and it's pretty damn stable for a leak.
