Today, I won the lottery (Google N6 64Gb)

I asked about the SIM being needed for activation only because two posters talked about borrowing a Turbo SIM to activate their N6 ... I assumed they returned it to the Turbo and continued using the N6 without the SIM. ??? NO ???
No. It will be WiFi only without the Sim. But if you were going WiFi only, you didn't need the Sim in the first place.

Yup. I took the SIM out of my activated Turbo and popped it into the N6. Up and running in seconds.

Why'd you make the switch?

Gmermel, I am curious, has your N6 upgraded to 5.1 yet? ... via OTA? ... or did you have to side load it?

Like you, I used a Droid Turbo SIM to activate my N6 and have not received OTA yet and I wonder if that has any bearing ... maybe Google and Verizon think my N6 belongs to the other guy and both end up ignoring me.

Lucked out and finally managed to order the elusive N6 64!
Activating it at Verizon is unchartered waters for me. Please let me know what to expect. Thanks.

Are they still scarce? I ordered one from Motorola last Wednesday and received it on Friday; I didn't know I was lucky.

You can punch a micro down to a nano. They should have a punch in there.

I would not count on it. I called around town to all of the phone stores and no one had a sim card cutter. I wound up ordering one on ebay.

The cricket dealer I was dealing with went to the Best Buy or RadioShack (can't remember which one he said) and did it for us. I guess it depends on the dealer.

I have noticed many used phones in Mint and Great condition on Swappa for under $500. Are these people that weren't happy with the size of the phone?

Don't know. It's a great phone. I may give it to my wife when her Note 2 goes and downsize to a current Moto X. There are a lot of things I miss from the Moto X.

There is a overage for the Nexus 6. From being impossible to buy it four months ago to shipping internationally and fee upgrades from Motolola.

Ordered a 64gb late last Saturday night from Motorola, and I got it on Wednesday. I turned it on and it updated several times to 5.1. Stopped at the AT&T store today and got a nano Sim. Works fine.

I was on the fence about getting this phone but I'm very happy with it so far.

I got tired of waiting. About a month ago I decided to take the route of pulling the SIM and resetting the phone which brings the update to the phone immediately.

I've found that pulling off my pictures and the backups from the couple of apps I've customized makes rebuilding the phone a relatively simple process.

I had rooted my N7. I then got an Intel Mac and didn't install bootcamp to use Wugfresh's tool. With that, I decided rebuilding a device was easier than unrooting/rerooting or sideloading to get updates. I do miss the ease of restoring, but like I said, rebuilding isn't that big a deal given how I use the phone.

BTW, my N7 didn't get the update until 2 weeks ago.....
