Toilet!!!!

I have made a rule for the past 2 years after reading posts like this. It is very simple to follow:
NEVER EVER LOOK AT YOUR PHONE WHILE STANDING ABOVE A TOILET OR URINAL!

I've also heard that isopropyl alcohol works too. It seems counterintuitive, but the idea is that you douse it with the alcohol (some have even said to submerse it in alchohol), and then let it dry. As I understand it, the alcohol will get in to the phone (particularly in hard to get spots, like water does), mix with the water, and then evaporate it rather quickly. It's also non-corrosive, as opposed to leaving water inside the phone.

This feels like an April fools joke... so I'll call it!

If you have uncooked rice, fill a bowl and cover the phone with the rice, that will help absorb moisture from within the phone. If you pulled the battery and left the display off chances are you will be okay.

There are moisture sensors in the phone and battery, they will know it was wet.

So a big bag of steamed hot rice won't work?

Wen you return the phone and then see its water damaged they will charge you FULL retail for it

No they won't. They will only charge you full retail if you want to REPLACE the phone. If you keep the non-working phone AND your current plan, you only pay your monthly plan.

If the phone is a goner, and you want a replacement, you might try ADDING another Thunderbolt to your existing plan and get the 1-2 year discount price.

Then just discard the non-working TB. If the second phone line is $10 a month and the new TB is $250 (with contract) it would wind up costing you $490 for the new phone over 24 months - that's cheaper than $600 retail for a new one.

Kinda makes the insurance more attractive, doesn't it?

do you have insurance on the phone? insurance covers water damage and when you do the rice trick make sure to keep your phone in the rice for at least 3 days

It depends on the insurance. Not all insurance plans cover water damage. Those looking at different ones, make sure you read what is covered and what is not. And consider the price/coverage each offers.

I have a friend who has done this twice to her phone and she still takes it in the bathroom with her. DUMB ! She has no more claims for the yr on her phone. And she is the type it will happen again.

assurion that Verizon uses does cover water damage. I used to sell wireless....

actually, the third line is 10 per month. A second line is more like 30 a month. I wish what u said was true thou cuz is get myself a bionic also whenever It came out.

Edit: just hacked VZW website, min monthly for two lines is 70 for 700 mins. No text no web. So depending on ur plan its more or less. For me that is 30 more a month.

so spoke to verizon (didn't have insurance) have up to 30 days after you activate the phone to get insurance on the phone. so i added the Wireless phone protections covers the phone for lost, stolen, and damaged including water damaged. for only 5$ monthly

So today i droped my phone in the toilet lol yes the toilet lucky my jobs toilet doesn't fill up all the way.The phone stayed on but i took the battery off to dry it up now all it does is it vibrates (like how it does when it really turns on) but nothing comes up. so im just gonna let it dry and see...

so should i tell verizon it got wet ????

EDIT:

As a rep I find it humerous when customers tell me that they didnt get it wet or they have no idea how that happened. Just be honest and youre more likely to be helped.

On the bright side I recovered an env3 and versa one from toliet and one for the washer by removing the battery and placing the battery and the device in white rice for 48 hours

i heard if you put it in a bag of rice it will work once again.. don't poop and text next time.
