What's up with these forums and the popup adds (some with video, such as Geico, a company I hate). If I click on them, fine. But I shouldn't have to close an ad with every post I browse!

I use Chrome to Phone in Firefox. Not a big Chrome fan because of many bugs I've experienced.

Just noticed this recently as well on AC using IE. Very annoying, annoying enough not to visit more often, yes.

f ads.

everytime I navigate to a new page on AC i get the pop up ad from the top of the page open or start playing a video. make it stop please.

looks like it broke again. last time it was non stop galaxy ad ever page load lol.

I'm on Chrome (everything else is garbage). Never have seen ads here and rarely see any anywhere else. No issues, no problems. The web has never been easier, faster, or more perfect. I'd love to see what you Firefox fanboys claim didn't work correctly on here.

Main issue for me is that downloads come in corrupted sometimes, especially compressed downloads. There's also a security risk with cached credentials not clearing properly... people can click the back button and view a secure session without a forced refresh. That's pretty huge.

I got frustrated with certain sites coming up garbled or not acting properly, as well. But I finally dropped it when I started using a digital personal thumbprint reader for login and no plugin was available for Chrome.

But you like it and use it. Great. Nobody's trying to stop you.

I only see a problem with ads when I'm not logged into the forum. Once I log in, the annoying ones go away.

I'm on IE9 beta (which I actually like believe it or not, but Chrome is still superior in speed) and I have no problems with the ads. I've seen a few but if you click in the margins of the page they go away.

EDIT: It's hard to complain about ads when that's what keeps the site up and running. Also using ad blockers takes money away from the site itself, since the ad host doesn't see the view. I know it's controversial so I'll link to an article that explains it very well.

I understand the need for ad revenue. I support it, even. But when an ad playing a video hovers over the text each time I look at a post that I must close before I can read the content, it's too much.

YMMV.

Like I said try clicking in a margin on the page. It made the ad minimize for me and stop playing. It's annoying but one click to get rid of it isn't TOO bad.

I disagree.

You said you support ads but now one click to deal with it is too much? Lol they don't make invisible ads. They are supposed to get your attention. And make you remember what they advertise.

Sorry, you're wrong. When a website puts up an ad that you have to click to get rid of on EVERY PAGE, people will leave.

An idea for your signature. Put in a monstrous ad that gets our attention and makes us all look forward to your posts. ;)

Lol that's an awesome idea. But the forums frown on advertisements in signatures. I do advertise for thanks, though, does that count?

And I don't have the obtrusive ad problem, so really it's not an issue for me. I also lile helping people so I'll deal with an ad our two to do so. And anybody needing help will probably deal with to get the help they need from the great members of the forums.
