LG g3 arriving this Tuesday! So any tips straight out of the box?

I planned to continue using nova or Google launcher, hoping for lollipop soon enough to see new features.

Anything you'd really recommend? Apps? Widgets? Settings? All gratefully received. That's all folks :)

Get a case on it! Protect! Look after! Care for!

I agree
I need to get a better case. I have a cheap one now.

I am using nova, love it. go ahead and freeze all the bloat ware.....I need to root my phone too, just a tad leary.

I like the phone, always looking for ways to make it look better. I think instead of HD widgets, I am going to try and put some zooper on it.

Let me know what you think of it.

Case, glass screen protection ordered already, fear not! I like spigen cases and found lovely one.

I will care for it, I'm pretty good with phones (touch wood)

Yes I will be losing all the bloat ware, coming from nexus 5 I'm used to clean systems.

Zooper I use, very good templates from play store, majority for little to no cost.

Don't even turn it on. Plug into power, and charge to 100%. Then turn on phone; do the initial setup. Then turn power off, charge back to 100%. You can do this a couple of times a year to condition the battery. My experience is my battery under-performs.

Thanks for the tip. This is my second android phone, and I've seen many things about battery charging methods etc and not to use some battery saver apps!

I would fully recommend doing a factory reset as soon as you get it. This will ensure best results.

Also root and get G3 Tweaks Box installed, as well as Amplify and Greenify for battery saving.

Never fully discharge the battery, it will damage the cells.

You're going to love how this page feels in hand, although your case might ruin that. Congrats on a terrific purchase!

Thank you for your help, I've noted it down. Factory reset outta the box seems strange tho!

Well, it probably has an immediate software update, so after conditioning battery, you could do the update...then Factory Reset. I always factory reset after each update, just to clear things up. Makes me feel better. Without touching wood.

Lot's of myth here. LI batteries don't need to be "conditioned." A factory reset out of the box won't hurt anything, but it just wastes a little time. All it's doing is restoring it to the condition it was when you started. A factory reset after an OTA can be useful if you encounter issues, but it means reinstalling all your apps and redoing all your customizations, so I'd suggest checking for an update first, before you install any apps or do any customizing.*

*Unless you plan to root. Some of the latest updates break existing root methods. So if you want to root, DON'T accept any updates.
