Why do you need 4G inside your apartment? You don't have WiFi?

It's a feature of the phone. It doesn't matter whether or not it is needed. Why do you need a BT headset when you have speakerphone?

The phone's features should work.

I have been working with Sprint and how about this phone just works as advertised?

As I said, if you're unhappy with the phone, you can return it and get another. It's really that simple. Otherwise, you work with Sprint and HTC to get the issue resolved or you live with the issue. Three options, pick one.

Sprint never said 4G worked everywhere at all times. Give them a break. 4G is just a gimick right now. Besides, you were an early adopter of 4G, knowing full well that it wasn't finished yet and this was the 1st phone to use it.

A. I'm not the one griping, I'm just saying that a feature advertised to work should work.
B. The OP is in a 4G area, and thus, should have working 4G. I am NOT in a 4G area and have no qualms with my 4G not working. However, if I moved to a 4G area and my 4G didn't work, there would be support calls until the problem was resolved.

You forgot the fourth option, *****ing on the internet.

Seriously though, I just wanted a small credit for dealing with all this bs,especially when such big feature of the phone turns out to be bs. I like other features of the phone, but I really want the 4g to work so I can really customize my phone and not worry about having to swap it out.

How are the problems supposed to be resolved? Sprints going to tell Clearwire to come to your house and set up a tower on your roof?

Its not your phone thats the problem, so theres no reason to swap it out, its just spotty coverage.

And to say 4g is a gimmick and everyone knows its not finished us lame. Ever each Sprints Evo tv commercial?

Yeah... Its pretty cool. So what? "The first 4G phone". I don't see any lies there. You have unrealistic expectations of the phone. Its not going to just automatically land you 5mbps everywhere! The 4G is a blessing if you get it. If not, its not like any other carrier/phone can one up you.

The $10 fee is because you will use more data with this phone compared to other Sprint phones. This is what Sprint said from the beginning.

No offense, but that's the dumbest argument I've ever heard. It's like advertising a "super chocolate first ever chocolate ice cream also with peanuts and other ****" and saying you should be happy with getting an occasional carton with chocolate in it but ain't those peanuts and **** grand?

Plus, every time I called them I had to find an f'in payphone because who has a landing anymore?

So you cant even make a phone call from your apartment? It sounds to me like your just in a bad area for any kind of reception. The 4G sounds like the least of your problems. Swapping out phones isnt going to help, complaining to Sprint and us here on the forum isnt going to help either you just live in an area with bad reception its the nature of cell phones they dont work perfect everywhere.

Uumm,no dude. When they're walking you through the steps of resetting your phone or updating your profile, you obviously can't be talking on it.

If you didn't know what you were getting into when you bought your phone then you shouldn't blame others for your lack of coverage. Its not hard to find a coverage map, you should've checked to make sure it covered where you live. 4G has only been around a few years, its a new technology, and there simply isn't that many towers. Its not all that amazing anyway. I'm sure if you did have 4G coverage, you'd realize it was nothing special and end up never using it anyway. Thats what happened to me. Last time I used 4G was just to test the speed. This test was taken *inside* my house.

Also, why do you need to call Sprint for help updating your PRL? And why would you think that would help your 4G? Lol.

Agreed. I've only been through four phones because none of them would ever connect to 4g and Sprint kept telling me my phones must be defective since I live in a 4g area. I don't think its wrong to expect some sort of adjustment when I can't use the most heavily advertised feature of the phone.

4G coverage is really strange in my experience. I went to the Sprint Store yesterday and had my EVO with me. One of their display models was connected to 4G with usually 2 bars. About a foot to the left of this phone was another display phone that was scanning for 4G but could not find. I took my EVO out and started scanning and most of the time I could not get a 4G connection even when I was placing the phone right on top/next to the one that was receiving 4G

I asked the rep in the store about this and she said that 4G was not really truly activated in our area yet but even so she admitted that when 4G coverage was activated will still be quite spotty. Quite assuring to hear that ... lol

What if I don't use more data? I use about the same as I did on my Pre and it didn't incur an additional monthly fee. I stay well under the 5gb "cap" since I use wifi so much, as I did with my Pre. Charging extra on the assumption of what I might do is bullsh!t.

If you had read closely, you'd have read I'm in an area with great 4g coverage. And updating my profile/PRL was the Sprint technicians advice.

I agree but it is part of owning the phone. Even with the charge, Sprint is still cheaper than almost everyone so I don't gripe about it. I do think that they should have just increased the cost on their data plans. It would have prevented customers from feeling mistreated.

If your really that unsatisfied, then return your EVO and get an Iphone. Enjoy the ****ty reception, dropped calls, higher costs, capped data, and closed ecosystem. Or go with Verizon and pay out the *** too.
