Touch Response Mirrored - I touch left it registers right...

So odd issue.... A couple days ago my phone ran out of battery and it shut down. When I turned it back on the touch response is mirrored on the X axis (I think x). So if I touch on the left, it registers touch on the right. Up and down is still the same. But it's not perfect and some areas of the screen don't respond. I was rooted and had a custom recovery, but I did a factory reset in recovery and it didn't help. So I downloaded the stock ROM from this forum and it flashed fine, but it didn't fix the issue. So I switched to an old phone (Optimus V for life!) and put the 816 on my desk.

A day later or so the touch screen worked fine. So I did the system update to Android 5 (and so lost root and my custom recovery).

Another day passed with it working perfectly, and now it's back to being mirrored. To be fair, I did select Check SmartSD in Hboot because I was bored and wanted to see what it did.

So, what do I do?

Welcome to the forums!

So your touch screen is not working properly? I'm a little confused. If that's the problem, and it worked on/off again for a while, then it could be a hardware problem that is faulty and goes in/out. Not unheard of, but not very common. If that's the case then it needs to be sent in for repair and/or replacement.

Hello!

It's just as I've said. The touch registers opposite on the X axis. So if I touch the top left corner, it registers on the top right. I touch the bottom right area, it registers the touch in the bottom left.

But when the touch respoces are mirrored, some areas of the screen are non responsive at all.

After about the 15th restart yesterday day, the touch is now registering perfectly again. We'll see how long it lasts.

Touch is controlled by the kernal right? So something is causing the kernal to reset or something, and some times it resets wrongly.

It's very odd. I turn on show touches in the developer options when it's mirrored, and between that and voice typing I can actually use the phone, it's just painful lol. If it happens again, I'll video it.
