Touchscreen not working -- Anyone else?

I have the same issue. I've tried a hard reset thining it was a rogue app that hijacked something, so I started with a fresh reboot after the 2.2 update. I figured I could add back apps until it hapened, it would at least help me narrow it down. Oly issue is it happened on the first boot, with no apps installed. There goes that idea...

It happens to me 3-5 times a day, it won't let me unlock it without hitting the power button to turn the screen off/on, need to go through that cycle like 3-5 times. Then when it does finally unlock it will randomly start pushing buttons like when I'm doing something (checking email, SMS, etc) it'll start acting like I've pushed a bunch of buttons (even had it delete 3-4 emails on me). Only solution is to hit the power button, which then triggers the lock screen issues.

I'm running stock 2.2, no root without a screen protector.

prolly just a delayed reaction to an almost FC then tries to catch up...???

2.2 fixed my problem, I think. After the update, it freaked out for like, 2 minutes and I haven't had any problems since (I updated on the 3rd, Tuesday).

I had this exact same problem. After doing a factory reset I was able to determine that it was indeed a hardware issue with the touchscreen. I took it to the local Sprint store and they simply swapped out the screen which took about 20 minutes.
I was surprised that the touchscreen went out because I normally consider this as a low failure part.

Try this to confirm the problem: Very slowly scroll up or down on any text screen making use of the entire length of the screen. Is there some point where the screen jumps slightly? If so your screen is definately in need of replacement.

This is the same problem I'm having and I'm entirely positive it was after the update that it started. Just now it was acting up enough that I was thinking of taking it in to the Sprint store for either a replacement or a fix. Usually putting it to sleep or turning it off and then on will fix it but neither was working. It seems to be okay now, but I'm certain it's not a hardware issue. The entire screen is working since I can use any part of it to scroll perfectly smoothly as long as it's not freaking out. I'd thought it might be that grounding nonsense but it doesn't seem to matter how I hold it. It does seem to happen less when I put it down on a table though.

I've had an occasional issue that may or may not be related. On five or six occasions when I take the phone out of my pocket to answer a call the unlock slider freaks out and is unresponsive. The slider oscillates wildly up/down and slowly moves down the screen, eventually reappearing at the top only to continue moving downward. All I can do is turn the screen off and wait for the call to end, then call the person back.

Stopped by a regular Sprint store just to check if they'd heard of the problem before. Of course, they hadn't and could only advise me to take it to a repair center.

I have the official OTA 2.2 update.
