Toyota Entune audio only plays through phone speakers

My Galaxy S8 always connected and functioned properly with my Entune system in my 2916 Tundra. But I recently got my S9 and I'm having an issue. It pairs fine. But, when playing audio from any of the Entune apps (iHeart, Pandora, Slacker) the sound will only come out of the phone. I can control each app through the Entune head unit and the phone even says the sound is set to play through my vehicle. But it will only play through the phone speakers. Is there some new sound setting in missing with the S9? I can play Bluetooth audio fine, it's only when using the Entune app. I had an S9+ briefly and it did the same thing.

That's odd. I have an Entune unit too and it doesn't give me problems. Will try when I'm in the car and see if any settings pop up. When you play audio, do you see the sound mixer in the notification bar or whatever it's called? It let's you select which 'route' audio should take for a media-playing app.

If nothing else works, try BTmono - I've used it to force audio that doesn't get redirected to Bluetooth to use Bluetooth anyway.

Yes. It shows that sound is playing through my Tundra. Yet the sounds is coming from my phone. I've toggled it back and forth, unpaired and repaired my phone when no luck.

Have you tried clearing Entune's app data and/or uninstall/reinstalling?

My Note 8 updated to Oreo yesterday and the same thing started to happen.

My s8+ was ok 2 days ago and now it plays all audio on the phone speaker instead of my 4runner.... This is nuts

This doesn't help you, but I have the Entune 3.0 system and it has it's own set of problems. I have had to clear cache and data twice in the last week.

You may try disabling them reenabling media in the BT settings of your phone once you are connected to your Toyota. this seems to work to get my Google assistant working again.

I've noticed that Pandora plays correctly through Entune. It seems to just be iHeart and Slacker. I'm assuming it's an Oreo compatibility issue with Entune.

Funny enough I couldn't get Entune notifications on the S8 or Note 8... and it works now on the S9. Weird.

There are quite a few Bluetooth settings in the developer options you can try
Have a play and maybe one will do the trick
