Tracfone Moto g4 Play Nougat

[AC Question]

I have a Tracfone Moto G4 Play, presently on Android 6.1. Can I expect an upgrade to 7.0, and, if so, when?

Is there some bias against upgrading inexpensive phones? Motorola is a large enough name that they should be able to obtain the upgrade with the other major vendors (ATT, Sprint, Verizon).

Welcome to Android Central! It's not a bias -- it's up to the manufacturer (and the carrier, if applicable) to spend the time to modify the base Android code released by Google, and then test it out for a while, to make sure everything works right. For most manufacturers, it isn't feasible to do this on every single device they make, so they will often concentrate on their flagships and some of their more popular midrange phones. Entry-level phones will sometimes get an update here or there, but support often drops relatively quickly.

Moto/Lenovo is pretty good about updates, but I'm not sure what Tracfone's track record is like.
