Trade in Fail!!

Based on the last three trades its been my experience. The first time I traded in a Pixel 3XL I got 600, but the regular Pixel 3 fetched the same price.
It's funny but just because I was thinking of trading in my phone I discovered today I have some burn in of home screen. I would imagine that makes trade in value worthless?

I've read Samsung has turned down trade in on devices with screen burn i even when they are still under warranty!

I usually keep my devices forever anyway but this Note 9 is the first I've ever had with burn in.
The burn in doesn't bother me but I'm sure it would justifiably bother any buyer so I won't sell this phone.

I have an extended warranty so I think I get a discount on changing screen but the inconvenience of doing a complete wipe of the device, waiting weeks for repair, then setting up from scratch is way worse than seeing the icons barely ghosted on a white screen.

I use my Note 3 as an alarm clock. Same screen on all the time FOR YEARS. No burn in whatsoever.

My Note 9 is constantly used with screen on auto brightness but obviously on home screen too much.

My S9 Plus was good but my wife's had burn in, if they refuse the trade in I hope they do send us back the s9's because I refuse to pay 1300 for a phone, they're supposed to receive the phones this week I'll post what they say.

They didn't allow it during the last pre-order because a couple people wanted to do something similar. Their only option was to return and reorder.

They did it for me specifically telling me to use the second ‘bag’ to put my new trade in into and gave me the pertinent info to keep and to notate relevant info of new trade in phone

That's what I'd expect. The trade-in program isn't set up to perform warranty repairs on the user's behalf. If someone has warranty-covered damage that the trade-in terms disqualify, it's up to the user to get it repaired before trading it in.

I've recently traded 3 phones with Samsung. My Note 10+ was pristine. I bought a Pixel 3 with screen burn in for trade bait, and a Pixel 3 xl with bad screen burn in for trade bait. All three were approved. It asks if ALL terms and conditions are met for which I said NO on the Pixels. Then it asked 3 individual questions- Does it turn on, is the screen free of cracks, will it be factory reset, for which I was able to answer yes to all 3 of those- and got the same trade in value. Saying yes initially to all terms includes a bunch of other conditions if you read the small print. So saying no there but yes to the 3 individual conditions may make a difference?

I wish I would of paid more attention to the fine print because I didn't find out my wife's had burn in until I did the factory reset right before sending it out then I seen it on the white welcome screen, at this point if they reject the trade in I'm just hoping they will send me back my S9's, because even if I like the Note 20 ultra I just can't see myself paying full price for it, I'm anxiously waiting to hear from Samsung 😰

I don't think they send the phones back if they reject it. That's just what I've read within this forum.

Man if they don't send them back I'm going to be in a dilemma lol we'll see what happens this week if they accept my trade in

Trade-in Return

• My device did not qualify for the trade-in, can Samsung send in my trade in device to be returned back to me?

Yes, since the trade in device did not meet the criteria needed, you have the option to send it back to the originally shopping address on file by visiting the My Orders page to request your device be returned. The full instant discount applied at checkout will be charged to the same payment account used for your new phone purchase.

Thank you for posting this I appreciate it 👍this is my first time going through Samsung and my first time trading a phone in.

Anytime I send a phone back I always do a little video of the phone and the boxing of the phone. So it shows the phone and what condition it is in when I put it in the box.
I have never had a problem (knocking on wood) but have heard the horror stories.

I did that as well, I recorded a video of the phones working the shape of the phones and I did another video of how I packaged the phones just to cover myself.

A majority of people don't have an issue. That is one of the benefits of Best Buy. Once they take your trade in at the store you are done.

I had three scratches on my Note 9, superficial marks, and Samsung accepted it.

Same here, probably close to totally unnoticeable, but I sent my Note 9 in, it was received in Fort Worth last week but I haven't seen any email from Samsung about being accepted. Never did a Samsung trade in, is there some kind of verification, an email saying its accepted...anything from Samsung?

They notified me a few days after I did a trade in for the note 10+. After reading all the horror stories last year I did it in a Tmobile store this year which as actually more money.

Yes, they'll send an email notifying you when the trade-in has been accepted (or rejected). They're probably swamped at the moment, so it may be several days after delivery before you hear from them.
