Trade In Thread

Or not. Got the email confirming Samsung received it and should take 3 to 7 days for them to review.

Anyone else send in their trade ins yet? Figured I'd start a new thread for tracking the status/approval.

I sent out both my S21 ultra and my S7+ Tablet this morning.

I would of sent mine out but of course every time I break out my printer the ink cartridge has dried up from sitting, or the new OS I'm on doesn't support it, or it just flat out stopped working. I literally (no joke) have to buy a brand new printer every single time I want to print something. Is it possible to make printers and ink cartridges that can last more than 6 months? Sheesh... At this rate it's cheaper to keep my trade in phones than it is to buy a new printer to print a return label every time I need to. I wish Samsung included a pre-printed return label so that you could just stick it to the box that your new phone came in to send back for the trade in phone. The other problem is I'm out in the country and the nearest FedEx ship out site is a 40 minute round trip. It's really a major pain in the *** to ship out my trade in, 40 minute round trip to buy a ink cartridge, do all the printing and packing, then another 40 minute round trip to drop it off and pray that it gets to its location OK, that's the only reason I haven't done it yet. I might just say heck with it and keep it for a backup since my most recent backup is an ancient S7.

You have 15 days to have it postmarked to send the trade in back. I would recommend using the new phone for a week before sending the trade in to them. Make sure you want to keep the new phone.

It's just that I stress over it getting lost in transit or something else and losing the phone AND trade in discount. Unlike UPS, my FedEx drop off location doesn't give you any type of receipt that they had received it and just tells you to put it over in the pile with the rest of the packages. I just basically would rather get it done and over with and not having the stress like getting a root canal, LOL! Not to mention, I did get mine early last Monday so I basically did try it for a week and there has been no show stoppers for me.

I'm just curious, when you do a factory reset, doesn't the phone ask for a password or fingerprint before you can factory reset? Wouldn't that alleviate the need to manually log out of all accounts? I just feel like when you do a factory reset it's automatically logging out of all accounts like reformatting a PC wipes everything. But just to make sure because from year-to-year I forget, is it just the Samsung and Google account that you have to log out of?

You need to use a different fedex if possible. Never send a package without receiving a receipt with tracking.

I get it. It just sucks when a person sends it back right away and 10 days later you find things that you don't like and your option to return and go back to your old phone goes away. Even if you trade in a older phone, that phone could be traded in down the road for a different phone. I've done it right away before and then realized I locked myself in to the new phone or lose my trade in. I'm just trying to encourage to hold off a little. You had a few days so that's good, some are sending in day one or two like it's a race.

Also on Samsung trade INS, once the tracking number goes live Samsung marks that as the date you sent it. So if you have the package in the shippers system and the tracking is live on day 15 or sooner Samsung accepts that as good, you don't have to have it in their hands by day 15. I understand not wanting to wait to last minute, I usually do it on day 10 myself.

Some of us live in a rural area and that option isn't available, all we have is a drop box. We know it's a risk, but options are limited. At least in those rural areas most of the time people are trustworthy and don't do shady things.

I haven't yet, but will probably first of next week. Trying to be sure my new one is completely how I want it and don't need to refer back to trade in one.

Factory data reset takes care of it automatically and always has for me. As you said it asks for the passwords to make sure. But there is the argument every year where someone swears they did factory data reset (probably not) and tell it didn't remove their accounts. So in general it's a good practice to manually remove/signoff all the accounts (Google/Samsung) and then finally do Factory data reset.

After factory data reset I generally walk thru the setup once without entering any accounts/WiFi etc (skip on all setup prompts) to make sure I can get to home screen. And then again I do Factory data reset to put it back into setup screen and then turn off the phone to ship it.

PS: factory data reset works perfectly if you do Factory data reset from inside the phone in settings. But it'll ask for password before it let's you in the phone, if you do via recovery in bootloader or thru some online find my or something like that. That's because the factory data reset wasn't done from inside the phone when you were logged in.

This is exactly how I do it ...I've done it this way so many times it's my only way ...

I just did it this morning as I finally got the label yesterday....

So I dropped it off before noon and the tracking number is showing:

"No record of this tracking number can be found at this time, please check the number and try again later. "

This always makes you sleep better lol.

I loved Note 10 also, until the day I laid it on the truck of the car, in my garage, got in the car, and drove to work never to be seen again. Used the find my android, but no luck

Samsung received my trade-in device this afternoon from FedEx, as shown by my FedEx app. Hoping to get a confirmation email in the next day or two that they show having received it.

Both trade ins accepted. Super painless this year.

For the record chargers not sent.
