Trading my HTC One for the S4

The slow charging doesn't bother me,specially that kernels are out at XDA for fast charging, though what I hate about this phone are the fact that its very prone to chipping and scratching if you don't use a full on cover like double flip, also the camera is just ok for daylight and very buggy for low light (blue tint and slow shutter) which is a pitty when you know they advertise everything on this..
The design is very cool but you get bored of it after 2 months, the UI and the screen are the only thing excellent about it.
I like the S4 but the poor sunlight legibility and perhaps not as good sound quality (over earphones) are keeping me away of it

Most people get bored with their phones after 2 months because the "newness" has worn off......just sayin'.

To each his own... but I can't logically see how using a battery pack makes more sense than replacing the battery. At this point, I think we're just arguing our preferences. I am trying to be objective and logical.

I don't own either phone... and I'm trying to figure out which phone would be best for me.

I own the S4 (gave it to my daughter) and I use the One as my daily driver. Now having both phones, I like S4 but I love the One. So for intents and purposes, I would buy a batt pack for the ONE that can be used on any phone, than buy an extra dedicated battery for the S4. Sure, an extra battery saves the "being tied to a cord" problem but for most of us....we will be buying a new phone in 2 years or less anyways making the extra battery a moot point, but the batt pack can be used my next phone, and the next, and the next.......

I really like this thread a lot... lots of great points. I just feel like there is a phone for everyone. It's great we have these options/choices.

I use my S4 with nothing button Launcher Prime and I love it. I don't know what the few people that have lag are using. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones, my phone is fast as h3ll.

No, it's because you're using a launcher.

I know Verizon htc one I bought the other day came with 4.2.2. My question is are the HTC ones on other carriers still on an older version? I say this because I read all these negative points to the phone, but have not experienced it . This phone seems to last longer than the s4 I had for a week. Seems to charge just as fast as my iPhone 5 did. Just wondering if that is the difference.

The other U.S. carrier versions of the One are on 4.1.2. That doesn't affect the charging however. HTC purposely set the charging to a slower charge because the battery will last longer. The quick charging burns out the battery faster - which doesn't matter on the S4, because you can get a new battery.

HTC One also has superior sound from the speakers and with headphones. I haven't experienced those issues with the camera, and haven't heard those complaints before, maybe you should take it in or call HTC support.

I do agree that the shine wears off, but the One is the only phone I've owned that I'll use after it's not my daily driver.

Lot of people are complaining about the camera low light purple tint,it's not known yet if it's a bunch of faulty camera modules or just software bug.
For now I can live with it but I am waiting for Note 3,if it's light enough and they did some improvements over the S4 (screen and sound) then I will swap my One

I looked at the S4 but there was just nothing special about it. No blinkfeed, no beats, NO aesthetics at all.

Does Samsung not care about aesthetics? I mean, I may have gone for one if they had of come with SOMETHING cool... I mean, make it pretty at least- throw some carbon, faux leather, metal, sooomething.

...Sorry gesture scrolling or whatever is stupid to me I don't want to look like I'm conducting an orchestra browsing Facebook.

Lol! :D

Like I said before, not everyone will like the same thing. I use most of the features in my phone every day.
Would I die if I didn't have them? No, but this is the phone I want and need.

I did have some hard time trying to decide between the HTC One and the Galaxy S4.
At the end, the GS4 won my pocket.:D

Ah, right on :)

Samsung is a power house i'm sure in the future they will hook up the exterior. Then I'll have no reservations. Nevertheless, i know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what not... :D

I had an S4 but went back to the S3 for one of the most underrated and essential features lacking in the S4, i.e., Quick Controls. I just got the One on Verizon primarily because I can use the AOSP browser and Quick Controls right out of the box (too lazy to root). I'm happy so far despite missing my spare battery charger and SD card.

Although there's a way to install the AOSP browser without rooting on android devices running 4.3 or higher (like my Nexus 7), the S4, as far as I know, hasn't received an official 4.3 update yet.

Well, lets hope the update to 4.3 comes quickly.
Samsung said October but stupid carriers take too long to release! :banghead::mad:

And now the Note 3!
Leather back and 3gb ram, audio quality looks like superior to S4...

Yea, it needed to be!
It's Ok, I still love my Galaxy S4 and will keep it for the entire contract.:D

I have a hard time relating to the battery/charging issues. Have a charger in my car, at my desk , next too the couch and on my nightstand . Whats the big deal ? Just plug that sucker in. You guys hiking in the woods for 12 hours or live in a cabin in Alaska without electricity ? I would think even a blue-collar worker would have power or a truck on the job site for charging.

I got the HTC One on Verizon on release and I have gone through 3 units. The first had poorly finished plastic ports and held a charge for 6 hours maybe, the second restarted twice with GPS on and plugged into my car, and the third has gap issues and blue/purple camera issue. Since I am past the 14 days I can't return but someone actually wants to trade me a S4 for my recent phone even with the issues.

My brother got an S4 on Verizon but returned and he said it had lag but he didn't wait for the update.

Either way the biggest feature of the One was the aluminum design and I had my phone in a case all the time scared it would dent or scratch like my iPhone so in the end who cares about the unibody design if most people use cases

Yes! That's exactly the way I feel!:D
