Android Central Question

Hello,
I am hoping to find a way to transfer all my photos and video in one fell swoop.
My Huawei can't use the Google Photos app. So that is out. Anything that NEEDS Google Play is out. The Huawei has a hardware block on anything that requires Google Play.
I have read that the Photos are all in the DCIM Folder, but that isn't the case. My phone has images all over in multiple Folders and I would like a program of a way to scoop them all up, transfer to my computer and delete them.
Is there anything out there for that?
Thanks!

My pictures are saved in folders all over the place. I want an easy way to transfer them all completely. I know they are suppose to be in the DCIM folder, but very few are there. I didn't make changes, its all what the phone has done. I haven't tinkered with any of the storage options.

Hi, Welcome to AC forums!
Let me see if I can get @Rukbat @b . diddy can help here

Pictures taken by the camera are in the "/DCIM" folder.
Pictures downloaded from the internet may be in the "/Pictures" folder tree or in top-level folders named for the app that downloaded them.

The cleanest way to copy the photos/videos from the phone is to connect the phone to the computer using an MTP connection on the USB cable and using the computer's file browser (Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder) to manually copy the desired folders from the phone to the computer's hard drive.

Some computers have an "import" program that can scan the phone and copy over EVERY picture it finds. Unfortunately it also will usually find all the JPG files in your web browser's cache, which presumably you do not want copied.

That's what I thought from phone to computer and copy .

If I have to copy from folders I have to find a dozen folders I know about and then dig through others that I might miss. That is why my hope is there is a way to just have a program to vacuum them all up and de[port them on my computer.

I don't know of one, but it would be easy enough to write one that just grabs all the pictures in the media scan database and copies the to someplace.

But there's no way to prevent the scattering in the future - new pictures will still be put where they go.

I would download a gallery app and create a folder called all photos in the Pictures folder. Then the gallery app will scoop all photos from all folders into its app. You then go into each folder, highlight the photos by long pressing on one, going to the submenu (usually 3 dots in a corner) and choosing "select all". Then move the photos to your new folder. Do this with each folder until all your photos are in one folder. Then plug your phone into your computer and copy the contents from pictures/all photos to your PC.

You should be able to find a gallery app in alternative app stores.

Here is an app from apkmirror which is usually deemed to be a safe website.

If your computer has an "import" program, it will do exactly what you say you want. Unfortunately, you don't want all the photos, just most of them. (You don't want the web browser cached files, which the import program will include.)

"Dozens" seems like an exaggeration, but I know what you mean. My phone's internal storage and SD card has ~10 folders where pictures get created/edited/downloaded to. Check the settings in your apps that do the downloading and see if they give the option to pick the folder. Find the needed folders once, then it is just a matter of copying the list.

I know its been a long time since I have been here, but this sounds like a good solution.

Do you know if the actual images are moved or just a pointer to the file? It its the actually file I can't duplicate them all.

Regards

Explorer will point to the locations where pics are stored and you can then copy the folder contents to your PC. You should be able to use the same method to delete the photos from your device
