I saw something mentioned on a different thread that made me wonder about this. I have always just automatically transferred all my contents. But is this actually wise? Is it better to start fresh? What do you guys do?

I usually do this no issues but not from a device that's old like say a s7 .

I always start fresh just because im a nut. nothing wrong with transferring data though.

I used smart switch before also without problems. The other thing I forgot to mention is that this is an unlocked phone and I don’t want to pick up all the Verizon bloatware if I don’t have to. I don’t know how to pick and chose, always transferred everything by default.

i've always used SmartSwitch ever since they had that app around 3-4 years ago, but i've often stumbled.

may i please ask if you guys would mind to please give me some steps, i.e. step 1, step 2..., etc, please?

i want to avoid stumbling this time around.

fyi: i'm going from a TMobile S10+ to an UNLOCKED S20 Ultra 512gb from samsung.com

i've just charged the S20 Ultra and it is ready to go.

i'd be most grateful for your assistance and guidance please. i'm sure others would also benefit from your advice.

roughly how long should the process take please? 2 hours? or...?

thank you again.

You maded a backup from your from your s10+ on smart switch?

I have done both and prefer to start fresh. It give you a chance to fix things you did not like and it makes sure the apps settings are right for the new phone.

Sorry, did you make a back up with your s10+ with smart switch?

apologies, i don't know what making a backup with my s10+ with smart switch means.

sorry, i can do basic things but i don't know what that means.

i don't know how to make a back up with my S10+. where might i find how to do this please? thank you.

should i back up my S10+ before using smart switch to move everything over to my S20 Ultra please?

when i use smartswitch, where should my TMobile SIM card be please? should i take it OUT of the S10+ and move it into the S20 Ultra BEFORE i do smart switch? or do i leave my SIM card in my S10+ until smartswitch is done?

I was too lazy and this time I did the smart switch wireless transfer from Note 10 mostly because I don't want to set up my home screen again

Plug your s10+ to the computer with the cable start smart switch choose back up , then after finished plug your s20 choose restore from back up

may i ask why do the intermediate step of backing up to my PC and then restoring FROM the PC, as opposed to
plugging the S10+ to the S20 Ultra and doing smartswitch like that please?

thank you. sorry if these questions are so basic.

You can deselect the Verizon apps before you transfer.

Depends on how much info you have. When I didn't use smart switch on pc my transfer took 4+ hours to transfer.

From pc you'll have to find a application similar to smart switch.

Smart switch is made for Samsung phones to make this type of stuff painless , straight forward,.
