Transfer files with black screen on Galaxy S3 ?

I dropped my galaxy S3 yesterday, and when i looked up the screen, everything seemed ok. Then the colors and visibilatiy started to fade, and after approx 12hr , the whole screen was black. Touch screen was working, and i could power up the phone. I guess i need an LCD replacement ? In case the repair costs a lot, i will buy galaxy S6, but my main concern is can I obtain all the data (including whatsapp conversation history) from my old phone ?

Hi... thank you for the answer.
However, this part confuses me :

Will my data at least be transferred to a computer before erasing ? Is there any method that will transfer the files without wiping all the data from the phone?
