Transfer text messages from old phone

My parents just upgraded to the Maxx 2. What is the best way to transfer text messages from an old phone? There was a notification on they phone when the first got it, but we can't seem to find that utility now - where both phones are connected to the network and you transfer from one to the other. Or is there a better way?

There are any number of SMS backup apps available at the Play store.

Run it one phone to backup the SMS messagestore and then on the new phone to restore same.

Thanks, I will give that a try. My Dad's phone still has the Verizon notification to transfer, but I guess my mom clicked through hers. We'll find a way

Thanks, this is what we used today to restore call history and sms. Worked very nicely.
