You can try using an application like software data cable or file expert.

Samsung Kies is available for the tab now, too.

Or just use dropbox, no cables required and easy to set up a free account.

Or use a file manager like file manager hd. There is a LAN option which lets you transfer files via a wireless network. I use it for all file transfers and don't ever bother plugging the tab into my pc

I've been unsuccessful in setting up a LAN network. Any tips our suggestions?

I've tried a number of different ways (which being new to Android from iOS I think it's pretty awesome to be ABLE to have a number of different ways - would be nice if I didn't have to jump through hoops to find them though) and I used the following (I'm on a Mac BTW):

Kies Beta:
Just came out (for the Mac) and works well. Easy interface and you can drag and drop from your computer desktop. For large movie files (2-3GB) this is my preferred solution. Anything else takes forever - especially Dropbox (I gave up after awhile). Of course the downside is that you need to plug your 10.1 in via USB - which is why I would only use this for large file transfers.

Dropbox:
Love Dropbox but it's a two step process. Load to Dropbox then on your Tab download the file to the folder. It's okay and it's nice because it's always available. I would use this for spur of the moment transfers.

File Expert:
This is outstanding app that sets up a local FTP network between your Tab and home computer. You can either access all your files on your Tab via a FTP client (like Transmit or CyberDuck) OR go directly through your browser with a address that the app provides. Just select the file on your Tab that you want to transfer into then find the file on your computer and go. Every once in a while the connection times out from not being used but it's simple to go to your Tab and enable the connection again. File Expert also shows up in your list when you want to email attachments which is handy. I've used File Expert for large movie transfers too but Kies is faster because of the direct USB connection.

For general desktop management for the Tab so far I like File Station the best just because it has the easiest interface and just shows me relevant files (File Expert shows ALL the files on the Tab which is good and bad).

Hope that helps!

Software Data Cable is another app that provides wireless FTP connection to your PC via WiFi. Very simple to set up and use.

Is there a better option than samsung Kies for direct usb connection between a tab and pc?
I have absolutely no problem paying for that software.

Just something that provides a more robust experience?
