Transferring texts?

I am trying to help a friend transfer all her texts from her phone for legal reasons, just in case the phone crashes she has a backup.
What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks

She can download an app called MyBackup Pro. She doesn't need root access and can save the backup file on her computer.
