Transformer 16GB now $299.99 at BestBuy

CRZY:

Thanks, in fact that is exactly how I plan to handle it. I think I will be very careful with BB in the future!

Appreciate your input.

Personally I hate the store. Try to do as little business with them as possible. I was spoiled by my time on the west coast with Fry's

CRZY: I hear you. Myself, I am a small town West Coast Neweggy and Amazonite; but since this is for my Special Person (we have been going steady for almost 30 years), I wanted her to have easy access in case repairs or adjustments are needed. Again, thanks for the input.

The BB website showed there wasn't a single one available at a store in the Twin Cities. Friday night I walked into my nearest store, and they had all kinds of them sitting under the display table. Someone asked if I needed help, and I said it was listed at $299 on the webpage, and asked if they would match that. He said that would be no problem. I grabbed on, walked to the checkout, showed her the item on my phone and she made the override. No issues at all.

My sister had the same experience at a different Twin Cities location.

cbill. I feel for ya. I bought mine on Black Friday at the $399.00 price. I too explicity asked about a price drop and would I get a refund (I'm thinking this will happen with release of prime). They said that I would basically have to do a return and purchase at the discounted price. I thought a little hassle but I would get discount.

Actually what happened, went to store, told them about website price, they looked it up...said no problem and issued me the $100.00 credit and all at a Best Buy where I did not even purchase the unit.

It's pretty sad when you go to a big chain like this can't get the same story out of all of them....

I'll have to try this out at my local BB (in Michigan)

Bought Transformer from BB for $399 two days before sale started. When purchased, I asked specifically, if the price dropped would I be eligible for price adjustment. Was told "No Problem, just bring in the receipt". Price dropped; I took in receipt. Was told not eligible for price adjustment because the $299 sales item is different model (TF101-X1) than the one I purchased for $399. They were firm, and inflexable. I proceeded to buy the $299 sales unit (supposedly TF101-X1). Told them I would just return the $399 unit after transfering data to the new unit. Got home, checked out the model number on the box. It is not a TF101-X1; it is, in fact a TF101-A1, which is exactly the same as the $399 model we purchased prior to the sale. (The color is exactly the same.)

Based on my experience, I do not believe there is an X1 model; instead, I think this is just a model number used in advertising, to stop and/or discourage customers who paid full price from coming back for a cost adjustment when products go on sale shortly after they purchase them at full price.

Personally I think this practice is unethical. If anyone has ever seen an X1 model please let me know.

There is an X1 model, and I have the box to prove it. The reason BB used a X1 was for black Friday purposes. BB did not want other retailers to price match them so they got a special sku from Asus. BB and other retailers do this every year to get you in the door with 'exclusives'.

That's exactly what he's saying. There is an X1 model # on the box, but the Transformer inside that box is no different with no different model # on it

I'm still waiting for mine to be shipped to my closest store. I just checked and saw a local store has some in stock. I wonder if I bring my receipt to that store if they'll give it to me.

What do you guys think?

Duh. I was watching the BB website for days but every single store in the twins cities was out of the X1. I stopped at a Best Buy in **** Rapids, and they didn't have any 16GB models in stock (A1 or X1). I guess I checked the wrong store.

Anybody get there's yet? Mine is supposed to be coming in today but when I called to confirm, they said it could possibly be towards the end of the week. It is a bummer about the different internals between the X1 and A1. I hope it is not true and just a BB thing but I have seen both models on other websites as well.

Got mine and can confirm that the actual tablet has the same type of serial number as the regular version. Others have confirmed internals are exactly the same, as has Asus on one online q&a I read somewhere.

Great news then!! Hope I get it soon. I guess they won't let me pick one up at the store cause they have them in stock now.

Well I just received an email saying it is ready for pick up! Will be leaving work early to pick it up now!!

Both X1 and A1 are listed at $399
Model: TF101-X1 SKU: 3669574
Model: TF101-A1 SKU: 2475916
I was too slow to pick one up :(
