First, let me start by saying that I am not a troll and I think the EVO is an awesome phone. I just wanted to share my experience for anyone else that it might help.

I have to start by saying that I have been a long time BB user, so that obviously factors in to my decision. I used the EVO for just over 2 weeks, and was very impressed with the device and Android. Ultimately though, when it came down to it, I found myself getting frustrated too often. Most of you will probably argue with me because this is an Android forum, but when it comes to phone calls, messaging and email (or any push related notification), BB is just better in my opinion. The EVO does many things better than BB and is more feature rich and much faster, but considering 90% of the time I'm using my phone for the 3 things listed above, I made the decision to give up the EVO.

Funny part is, I made the decision last night and it took me an hour today to bring myself to actually do it. There is a lot I will miss about the EVO, but at the end of the day, my Blackberry just gets things done in the most intuitive fashion possible.

Also forgot to mention that although 4G is available in my area, coverage is spotty, so it was hard to justify the extra $10 per month.

PEACE!!!!!!!!
Really though, it takes some time to get used to Android when you're coming from bb... I don't know if 2 weeks is enough honestly, but to each his own. BB is a solid device, but I am glad I went to android, because I do more than just email and text on my phone.

It's cool, the phone is not for everyone. I hate when people make a big argument about how the evo sucks. But they fail to realize that not every phone is for every one. I'm not saying you are, I'm talking about the ones who come on here and try to break it down piece by piece but only make them selves look like an ***. Well I hope Sprint has something down the line that might fit what your familiar with.

Bye bye, I've had so many different phones n man I just don't see me giving up this phone I do so many things during the day so I have 2 batteries an extra battery charger n I'm good to go my day with my EVO is complete

I think that it is smart to assess what you need in a smartphone and purchase a device accordingly. I really love my EVO, but if I had to go back to my BlackBerry smartphone today, I wouldn't miss it much because I really don't need it. I just want it because it does everything and well. But to the OP, I understand your plight. And why pay extra when you really don't need to? BlackBerry phones are solid and always will be.

I never want to hear about someone having to live with a device they are not happy with. If the EVO doesn't fit your needs just move on. Stop by the AC from time to time just say hi or just maybe how you regret dumping the EVO. ;)

I think you could have found some alternatives.
There are other mail clients in the Android Marketplace, as well as other messaging clients. I use Handcent SMS, for example... which features message locking, and notification options, etc.

However, I'm not bringing blackberry down. It does what it does best. Calls, e-mail, messaging... it does beautifully out of the box.

I just wanted you to know that Android has other options and many ways around the problems you experience.

Good luck, op.

As for calls, I have gone through phone after phone over the years and I find the Evo to be pretty darned good, if not as good as any other phone. No complaints here.

Posted from my Evo.

This kind of post doesn't make anyone want to come back.
I saw these kinds of posts all the time at Precentral... wasn't pretty.

Please keep the community helpful and not bash people, despite what they post.

Many of us cared, hence reading the thread, same as you. Your post contributed nothing.

sorry mommy, but he started it :p

Yeah different strokes for different folks... it depends on the person... I don't like blackberries cuz the browser is horrible... but everyone doesn't use their phone for that and its a great device for some people..
