EDIT: I was wrong about the OS on this phone; it's Gingerbread, not Honeycomb.
Yesterday I got a Galaxy S II Skyrocket and am pulling my hair out trying to do the simplest thing: Putting my music library on the phone.
The trouble is that all of the Android apps I've tried (Music, Winamp, DoubleTwist) seem to selectively ignore the tags that I apply to my music. For example, some albums whose genre I've tagged as "Tech" appear as "Electronica," while the others appear as "Tech" the way they should. The same applies for song titles, album names and artwork: Some music is as it was before I tagged it while the rest reflects my custom tags. I've tagged the music using Windows Explorer, and when that didn't work I tried tagging the same music through Winamp, and then through DoubleTwist with similarly random results. I've also tried transferring the music through Winamp, DoubleTwist and just by clicking and dragging with the same results. After each trial I double checked to make sure that the tags still appear in Windows Explorer and they do 100% of the time.
This is beyond annoying - The one nice thing that I could say about my iPhone is that it at least considered my input to be more than just a polite suggestion. This seems to me like an issue with the OS (which I believe is Honeycomb) so I can't be the only one who has had to deal with this. Can anyone offer any advice? Does Android look elsewhere for song information? The next thing I'm going to try is using a program to export my music library from my iPhone (which displays everything properly) and try importing that to my Android, but I'm not optimistic.
