Please help. I've been trying to get the latest OTA update for my HTC Rezound. I have Amon RA recovery with 3.15 on my phone. Is there any way of getting the OTA or do I have to remove Amon RA before getting the update. Everytime I try to load the update I get this message.

RA Revamped
Build RA-Vigor.3.15-getitnowmarketing
Finding Update
Opening Update
Installing Update
Wrong Taskid 221384E: Error in /cache/fumo/OTApkg.zip
Status 1
Install aborted

Any help would be appreciated.

My question exactly. Getting fed up with my rez left stuck at boot screen..
How do we stop this? Go back to stock, put on a 4.0 Rom, or is there another work around?

Ok. Got the update.
I will do a step by step in am.
Not sure I can get back root, though.

Ok sounds good, well I was hoping that I could get the update but I might try to just get the latest ROM since I just need to get better battery life also, If I can get the update and get the root back also.

I am rooted software version 3.14.605.12710RD using Amon Ra... The phone downloads the update, but does not successfully install. It tries at least once a day. I would like to keep root & not have to reinstall everything. I am a total noob at rooting and get nervous I am going to brick the phone each time VZW does an OTA and I have to go through this process again.

SO, I would appreciate the step by step, as well.

Edited: While trying to install it says Amon 3.16.

Subscribed to this thread! This whole OTA thing is getting on my nerves also! It tries 4 or 5 times a day to download the firmware and it's really tearing through the battery...

I'm on
S-ON
H-BOOT 2.25.0000
RADIO 1.22.10
3.14.605.13 710RD

*** disclaimer ****
Read everything twice on all pages. Follow instructions.
Make sure you have full charge on battery.
Back up anything and everything!
This will wipe your phone, at least twice.
Don't give up.
*****

Ok, here's what I did to unroot. Get up to date rez, reroot.
** 1st things first, read all this, go to different pages mentioned, read everything there.

First thing was too relock.
Get into adb and do fastboot OEM lock

On computer, then did:
Then went to androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=vigor
Look for vigor, click on it, when page loads, you see several files available to download. Download the top file, its 604mb.
Run exe file. Follow the prompts of the program.
! It will take 10 to15 minutes to run! Don't touch your phone while doing.
This program will put you back to bone stock 3.6.

When done reload your google accounts.
Then check for updates. Will do at least two updates.

When updates are done. Come back to Mr. Smith's guide to unlocking and rooting. Follow his steps exactly.
(or use what ever method you originally used to root)

Reset up your rezound until the next update borks us....:)

*** this is what I did to unroot, update, then reroot. May or may not work for you. Hope it does.

Dude this worked PERFECTLY! Thank you! I'm not gonna mess with rooting while I'm on vacation, but I'm happy I was able to get the updates before we left! Thanks again!

@ghess517: I have the same issue, but I'm having problems finding the links and articles you mention in your post.

Would a factory reset also fix this problem?

Edit: Factory reset didn't help, I still get the same error in Amon Ra. So I guess my question is, how do I get Amon Ra out of the way.
Alternatively, any way to turn off updating?

Thanks!

A factory default will not help this... you need to return the phone to STOCK... unrooted stock ROM, stock bootloader, and no Amon Ra, that is the only way it will work... a little Googling should find this answer very quickly, it comes up every single time an update for the Rezound comes out, the answer is usually simple, in fact, if you look back two or three posts on this page, you will see the instructions quite clearly posted by ghess517!

Yes, I read his instructions, but I don't quite understood them, and I also sent him a PM about them. (And yes, we all know about Google, but I like these forums first. As a matter of fact, Google takes you to these forums when searching for this problem.)

I don't quite understand what this means. Is this where you hold the volume down key and power at the same time? What option do you select from there?

I think I'll be in better shape with the Vigor file if all I need to do is run the .exe with the phone connected as disk drive.

Thanks.

No, when you rooted you would have installed ADB (Android Debug Bridge) on your computer, which is a command line interface to communicate with the phone on a low level, that is what he means... you need to connect the phone via USB to the PC and from the ADB directory command line, enter the command "adb fastboot oem lock", once you have done this your phone is useless as it was, you will need to install a new, bone-stock, firmware image, which is the RUU, this will factory default your phone and put it an "out of box" state with everything back to Verizon defaults, including the bootloader.

I know what you mean about an executable RUU, but we haven't seen one of those for the Rezound (or any HTC phone for that matter) in a very long time. :/

Thanks, I've managed to relock the phone. Now after updates, instead of Amon Ra it takes me back to the white bootloader screen. Installing the bone stock RUU is my next step. Isn't the link ghess posted the executable RUU? Or do the prompts he mention make it slightly more tricky?

The exe file is one you download to your computer. Plug your phone in to USB. Run the exe on your computer.
Follow the prompts of the exe, it will take at least 10 minutes to run.
