Trouble with opening apps on Cm 6.1.2

I think my memory card went out on me. Im currently running cm 6.1.2 and every time I try and open a app that taps into sd memory a black screen appears and eventually force closes. Is there anything that can be done? Or am I screwed. I have another sd card here but I did not back up anything on it. It has to be the sd card. Should I put the new card in and see if i can do a backup on cm or something. What to do.

Maybe the card just needs to be formatted? Can you mount it as USB storage when you connect it to a computer?
