I just received my 5x and I've got to say I'm truly impressed. I got this to try out google fi and use it as a backup phone to my daily driver. I must say its fast, feels very comfortable in my hands (although its in a leather case for protection), and really appears to be very well built. Even the screen is very good. My only real complaint, so far, is the lack of storage. 32gb just won't cut it for me as a daily driver. And also I'll have to see how battery life is. Oh, my DD is a samsung galaxy S7 edge. Im so impressed with this phone, that if Google fi works out for me, I'll get the new pixel XL when it comes out and ditch the S7 edge. I just wish you could use the S7 edge on fi.

Have 5x and note 5. Been on fi for 7 months. Wish fi works on Samsung Note series ;)

I agree. Ive got an S7 edge. Im just tired of verizons BS.

Aren't we all? 😀 I'm liking my 5X so far. Battery life isn't as good as my Maxx 2 but that phones battery has almost 1000 mAh more capacity. The build quality isn't quite as good as the Maxx either but it's fast, light, has a fingerprint sensor and is now running the latest security patches and Nougat. Overall, I'm happy.

I agree with your comment about storage. An sd card would be nice. I'm really used to having a 64GB card to store music and pix on.

Oh yes you can. With googoe hangouts dailer. There are posts about this in flipboard this week.

Sorry no link, but download the Google hangout app and Google hangout dailer. Yesterday, before I got my sim card,I was able to make phone calls using this method. Of course I needed wifi. But once you have a device on the data only sim, you are using the data from your connected device.

I'm curious as to how much data a hangouts call uses... Never measured

It will show up in your Google fi app that you can download from the playstore. It woukdnt use that much at all.

The 5X is an awesome phone! So glad you like it! I, too, am anxiously awaiting the release of the new Pixel series!

As soon as I make a decision on what pixel i get(probably going to be the XL) I'll get a data onpy card for my S7 edge and leave verizon. Im having tremendous coverage with fi.

I just ordered one for a note 5 that I have. Not sure how that's going to work but I'll give it a shot. Been on project fi for 7 months now.

Glad you like the phone. I think Google's idea for the 5X vs the 6P was to differentiate in price, and one way to do that is to have different storage tiers.

I am thinking of shifting to Fi as well.
