Trying no case on S21 Ultra

Been using the Later case since about launch and it's really great for a slim case but I am now trying to go without any case. Feels great using it in it's original design form. Its not really ever out of a suit jacket or on a desk so feel confident I won't be in a position to drop it.

Seems pretty slippery but manageable.
Just need to hold on a little tighter. The only position that seems impossible is laying in bed and typing as it's difficult to grip the sides without a case.

I'm curious what other user's experiences have been without a case?

I believe you can get away with no case with the phone. If I did not need the s-pen I would let it go naked. It has a plastic back and not near as slippery as the note 10+. One thing you might consider is getting bumpers only for drop protection so it has a slight lip in case it falls flat.

I've tried dbrand before and found there was an edge to them you could feel. Also, it covers the amazing black cover on this device.

The back is glass, only the S21 is plastic.

I've never used a modern smartphone without a case, the closest I've came was using a bumper, which I actually liked quite a bit. But that was on my Moto X Pure Edition with a very solid metal build and rubberized back....very nice phone to hang on to. I don't think I'd run a bumper on a glass phone

it looks like harden plastic and sounds like plastic when tapped. so I assumed it was plastic. Maybe I got a fake ultra 5g from att.

It does sound a bit plasticy and the matte finish makes it difficult to tell... But it's glass. They may have even made it more similar to plastic intentionally to soften the backlash on the S21.

I popped mine out of its case just to remember what it felt like and it was kind of nice. If I had another device that I could switch between for work and pleasure I might consider this but I like not having to be overly careful even though I've heard the back is pretty good. I've dropped mine 2 or 3 times now and at least once pretty hard on the corner. Hard enough that I'm sure it would have meant a new back or maybe even screen. Maybe next year just before the 23 comes out... *Thinks to myself, yeah but it has to be in excellent condition to get maximum trade-in. **Rethinks previous statement... Yeah but aren't cases are the in thing these days?

I can't see using no case they are too slippery to hold IMO plus too expensive to replace or repair. Plus a case gives my phone a nice grip!!

I've been using a S21 Ultra for a few months without a case. I used my 12 Pro Max without a case before that. I like to use the phone the way it was designed. Both phones cost well over 1K. It seems wrong to cover them with a case that cost 20 or 30 bucks.

In my head this is what I think. But having tried my s21u without case and finding it pretty slippy (and dropped a couple of times onto carpet thankfully) I decided to get the case back on. I don't have insurance which probably affects my decision! I have the Samsung leather case and really like it. My only gripe is the leather on mine isn't aging that well like you'd expect from leather. It just looks a bit scratched and tatty.

Try a dbrand skin. Stops it being slippery with the naked feel

I really wish I had seen this brand before I bought the Otter Box. The Otter Box makes a great case but that Dbrand skin looks really enticing as it should make this thinner. As far as going with nothing. Not sure how some can do this. My first week of owning this phone I was so afraid to carry it for fear I was going to drop it all the time.

I am not a fan of cases but every time I go completely naked the phone eventually gets a cracked screen from some type of unexpected accident.

I found using a Rhinoshield bumper case is a good middle ground. Have something just on the edges keeps it from breaking on accidental drops.

Bumper shields are a good idea as well.

I don't think I could deal with the S21 ultra without a case... Protection aside, the camera plateau is just too triggering for me. How do you guys deal with it?

Well for me the bumper case makes the camera plateau a non issue. It has just enough of a lip on it to allow the phone to lay flat.

For me: no case, no screen protector, no insurance, no problem. But that only works because I rarely drop my phones. Otherwise I'd recommend more protection.
