Trying Nova Again

The thing I like about Nova is the dock pages.

Yeah I never knew that existed til lately. That extra row of apps on ML bacame invaluable to me so when I discovered Nova had Dock pages to give something similar I found it super useful. I only use one extra Dock page personally

I have two dock pages, first one is essential apps and second one is all folders with sub level essential apps.

Ok I just gave ML a few hours go. They do a nice job trying to copy the customization of Nova. It's still lacking. The vertical home screen is kind of neat. If I was connected in any significant way to Microsoft accounts I think I would consider using this full time but I'm not so I'm sticking with Nova.

It is in Nova launcher called a persistent search bar. You also can customize the death bar there

I think Samsung has definitely come a long way. I've been using the stock launcher and slowly setting up Nova on the side. I actually really like the Samsung launcher. I switched to Nova yesterday though and I don't think I can go back to stock. Too many thinks I use and appreciate from the multiple dock pages to gesters and adjusting the tiniest of details on home pages and down to icons. I use those things and didn't realize how much smoother my experience is with Nova.

Yes that's true. I'm not sure what vertical scrolling does. I turned it off and didn't see much of a difference.

Vertical scrolling just allows you to hide your home screen (not dock) apps when you swipe up. Declutters the home screen if you want to simply see your wallpaper.
It's finicky, though. I disabled it.

Ok. I never noticed a difference. Even with it enabled, it didn't seem to change anything. When I swipe up it would open my apps locker.

It was nice when it worked... A swipe up would hide the home screen apps and just leave the dock. So inconsistent though. Failed more often than it worked. That's why I disabled it.

That would be why I never noticed. It obviously wasn't working for me. I use ML on both my a Note 8 and Tab S2 and never once noticed it did anything.

This isn't how Vertical Scrolling works. When Veritcal Scrolling is turned on you swipe up and down between desktop app pages. When it's turned off you swipe left or right between desktop app pages the same as Nova and all other traditional Launchers.

Ah ok. I understand now. I don't have more than one desktop page. That is why I never noticed a difference. Once I added another page, and enabled vertical scrolling, it worked.

It's pretty cool, I'm not sure I'll use it though.

Thanks!

i think less people are going to use Nova Launcher in the future, because TouchWiz is getting better every year.
