Hi,
I have a samsung SM-J330FN smartphone.
I need to buy a weekly bus ticket for next week.
So i downloaded the Morebus App for Bournemouth bus's.
When i try to buy the bus ticket on my smartphone, it asks me to input and store away my debit card details.

But surely this is unsafe?
When i order something from my laptop, i only put my debit card details (eg debit card number, expiry date and three digit number) in at the actual time i have just placed the order for the product.
I certainly dont upload my debit card details up to the vendors website and store them there, and then use them later.
And i dont store my debit card details on my laptop either.

Not only that, but what if the smartphone got stolen?...the thief could get my debit card details?

Any recurring service will always ask for a 'payment on file'. If this is a one time purchase, it's up to the developer to either offer a 'guest' checkout option or not. As for safety of your data, that's also up to how much you trust the vendor. If the vendor offers more 'secure' versions like PayPal or Google Pay (where the payment service stores and encrypts your payment data and only uses a one-time code per transaction), then that's a better option.

As for the payment details from a phone, that's unlikely (unless the payment data is in plain text, which it shouldn't, and if you keep your phone unlocked at all times). The payment data is encrypted on device and it usually just shows the last digits of the card for reference once it's uploaded to an app.
