trying to flash a rom.. very frustrating. please help.

Hi Everyone,
So basically I'm working on flashing the ICS rom made by jt. I am a complete newb at this so what Ive gotten done so far is rooted, installed clockworkmod recovery with odin, and put a few files on my SD card.

When I try to flash the roms from rom manager, it will reboot to clockworkmod recovery but it errors with "E:failed to verify whole-file signature, E: signature veification failed, installation aborted" and it sends me to the blue recovery screen.

When I start my phone up with both volume buttons and the power button it sends me to blue recovery, according to the instructions to get into cwm recovery red from here I am suppose to do "update:sdcard.zip" option, when I do that option I get the same exact error as above.

Can someone please help me out? this was going very smoothly up until this point.

You have the wrong version of clock work mod. I had the same error, so I flashed the recovery for cyanogenmod 7.1 and that allowed me to flash ICS. hopefully that helps

thanks, do you have the link for that by any chance?

edit: I figured it out. if anyone runs into a similiar issue its probably because you need to try a different version of cwm.

Regardless, I typed out an answer for you and then saw this thread as I was looking for a link to CWM 3.0, which apparently isn't needed. But here is my response anyway in case anyone else needs this info:

Forget about rom manager. Other than CM7 nightlies it does not work on the Fascinate. You have to put the ROM file on your sd card and flash it through CWM. But don't use the CWM from rom manager. It, like rom manager are useless on the Fascinate. Follow the instructions in jt's OP here and pay close attention to his instructions if you are already on an MTD based ROM (CM7, Pool Party, Vanilla GB.)

I'm not sure whether you will need CWM 3.0 or 4.0 in order to flash his ICS ROM as I have not closely followed the development, but my guess is probably 4.0.

Flash CWM in the PDA section of ODIN, but make sure the auto reboot box is unchecked. When CWM finishes flashing, close ODIN, unplug the usb cable, do not turn your phone on, boot directly to CWM with the three button method, then flash the ICS zip file.

Using that guide and landshark's advise I was able to get ICS on my Fascinate without too much trouble. Thanks.
