Trying to install a custom ROM and CWM recovery will not work.

I have unlocked my bootloader, Rooted my phone , and installed custom recovery mod onto my phone. I have downloaded all the neccesary files and placed them in there proper folder locations. Now I'm trying to wipe data, clear cache, and install the zip file from my SD card. But when I select any of the the options on the menu nothing happens. It just shows the cog with top hat and the black background and no matter how long I wait nothing happens.

I would be very greatful if someone could please help me fix this.

I solved the problem. it wasn't the right version of CWM.

You just need to scroll up through the cwm menu twice to enable your power button.
