Trying to load simple app on moto g 5g 2024 without google account. I'm finding impossible to load any simple independent program without a google account. I can't even load WhatsApp to load future apps. Is this really the only way to use this phone?

Welcome to AC!
Why wouldn't you use a Google account? I've never tried without one but probably the way it is since you would need Google play store.

You could try rooting and installing a different ROM that doesn't use Google service but your at your own risk with no monthly security updates .

If I set up a google account just to get google play store and then load WhatsApps, Do you think then at that point I could delete Google account and Just use Whatsapp from that point on?

I thank all of you for your answers. You know your stuff. I'm very disappointed I'll have to change the software just because I will not agree to google's terms of acceptance. But I will have to do it. Motorola truly sucks for going with google with no option out.

Bear in mind that Android as it's available in mass-marketed devices is essentially a Google product, so any of these mainstream Android devices will basically be a Google device. There's always the option of sideloading apks, but if you go that route, you're giving up the security that the Play Store provides.

Yes, Android is open source, and there are options to either purchase an "open source Android" phone like Fairphone, or to make a mainstream phone into an open source device by replacing Google's Android with something like Graphene. But you may find that app availability is not as robust, and again, timely app updates may also be lacking.

Thank you very much. I did not know that. I left a link at the bottom of this post for others w/o knowing this.
Do you know anything about KaiOS? I know it is Linux based. I bought a flip phone about a year ago from tracfone with this system because I read it was based on HTML and I designed webpages 20 years ago knowing HTML. That was my interest. But since I've had it, many features/apps on it have gone away. I fear KaiOS might not survive. Plus I have never found a smartphone that offers KaiOS. Do you think it stands a chance if it's enhanced, enlarged so it's capable of handling smartphone capabilities? I would love to see a true open source and a less intrusive system. www.androidauthority.com/google-android-acquisition-884194/

OK, If I set up a google account just to get google play store and then load WhatsApps, Do you think then at that point I could just delete the Google email account and Just use Whatsapp from that point on to load future apps up with?

I'm not sure, since I've never tried that. I suspect that WhatsApp would not be updateable, since that would be done through the Play Store. If you remove the Play Store account, then the associated apps would also become unrecognized.

I'm going to give it a try . You see, on my KaiOS phone that's all we've got is WhatsApp. And it works great. It also does not flash local adds and weather.
