Trying to upgrade S3 through Kies

I'm on the S5 but I would like to keep my old S3 as a backup. Ever since the S3 was updated a few months ago, I've tried to update about once a month through Kies and it says I have the latest firmware. When does Kies get the latest upgrade? It's been a while already.

What makes you think that there's a later version of firmware than what you already have?
Are you using Kies v3?
