Turn off email audio notification but not for texts?

[AC Question]

Just switched from an iphone to Galaxy s5 on T-mobile. With iphone, you can set different notifications for texts and emails. Is this possible with Androids? If so, how? If not, seems like a really serious drawback!! Texts are, in my experience in general, urgent, time-sensitive, like phone calls, and the person contacting you is trying to have a conversation. Emails are none of the above in general.
How can I have audio notification whenever I get a text, but NOT for email?

Welcome to Android Central! Go into the individual settings for each app to modify the notifications. So on the Email app, tap the Menu button and look for Notification settings. Do the same on your messaging app.
