turn off my magazine?

I just got a Note 3 and one of the first things I did was open My Magazine and under the settings within that application I disabled the launching of it via the home button so I have no more annoying accidental launching of My Magazine.

As a work around to this problem, is there a way to disable the swipe up gesture completely?? Sure it would be nice to program it to do something other than My Magazine but I would be happy to disable the whole feature until Samsung sorts this out or me rooting (which likely will happen)

Disabling the app by pressing the apps icon from the home screen then pressing menu and install/disable apps will work only after you accept the terms.. however when I do this I get errors about touch wiz home freezing..

^ I performed the steps mentioned in my previous post and have never received any error messages about touch wiz home freezing or has any such freezing occurred. I occasionally will check under Settings and App Info to click on "Force Stop" but the "Turned Off" is already greyed out since it is already off. As I write this post I am clicking on and swiping up on the home button and the My Magazine is not launching which is good. I prefer to use the regular Flipboard application.

Ok i managed to disable my magazine by going to application manager and holding the my magazine icon until the option disable app came up so now when i swipe up it says application not installed and its the google playstore so i was happy with this way better them my magazine app but now EVERYTIME i hit the home button my screen freezes and i get a touch wiz home error so the only way i fixed it was by putting my magazine back..... if anyone knows how i can fix this please HELP!!!!

Is there any way to disable the home button my magazine shortcut? It's really annoying.

I just worked it out myself (on galaxy s5) and it is possible. Just press and hold the screen (as if you were adding a widget) and go into 'Home screen settings'. From there you will see a check box for 'My Magazine' and just uncheck it.

Two apps have helped me.

1) Home2 Shortcut

It changes settings for the phones button. The directions are a little confusing. I think there was a video online that I had stumbled on that was super helpful. I love being able to get to Google Now with double clicking my button.

2) Swipe Home Button.

It allows you to change and add swipe settings. You can open apps with various swipes, including swiping up. Now when I swipe up I get my home screen and NOT My Magazine.

For now My Magazine is at least hidden even though I can't disable it.

Go to settings/application manager/ slide over to all applications / scroll down to my magazine/ and turn off the sucker, force stop. Don't hack your phone.....all these damn applications can drive anyone wild, especially when forced upon you. byE

That only stops it until you reboot or run it. There is no way to disable it in the application manager.

Anyone know a way to use the swipe up motion to open a different app? I've frozen the apps and get an "Application not installed" message if I swipe up now. Currently running JellyBeans V5

I would love to know the answer to this too.

Note 3 here and this worked. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!

Yes! This worked. Annoying little bugger keeps coming back. Really dislike having this crap forced on me.

Try checking in Application Manager/All category. It's there, at least on Verizon phones.

So.. hold your finger down on an empty slot on the homescreen .. home screen settings will appear .. then uncheck my magazine updates 😊
