Turning Digital Wellbeing Off

Finally getting good screen on time after doing a factory reset. Here I have a little over 4 hrs and almost 2 hours of YouTube and I still have 30% of battery. Before I was getting 10-11 hrs of estimated battery but now I'm getting usually 18-22 hrs. I bet with this 30% left I could hit like 5.5 hrs of on screen time. I think I had a rogue app draining battery but the weird thing is when I'd inspect it via the battery settings I never saw any app using tons of battery but yet battery drained so I'm not sure. Either way #feelsgood . See attached screenshots.

I been one complaining and did my second reset and didn't install every single app and so far I went from "battery lasts about 11 hours" to "16-20 hours" adjusts based on my usage. But big difference so I think I had an app screwing me over. I was averaging 2.5-3 hrs the most and I've already pulled a 4.5-5.5 screen on time thank God.

That's why I try and avoid third party apps unless I have to use them for something like a fitness tracker, security system etc. They usually seem to be the culprit for the majority of phone issues I've experienced, seen, and read about.

I'm at 5 and a half hours talk time and 4 hours 20 min of screen time
With 24 percent battery left . That's a pretty normal day for me .
Just to give an example of what these phones are capable of .

All righty so what I've been doing is I turned off flip to shush mode And when my phone is on any kind of a flat surface, I flipped The screen over so the back is facing up which makes a sensor turn off my always on ambient display. notifications and then when I put my phone over, my Ambien to display automatically turns back on. I've noticed so far within the past day or so, that this saves quite a bit of battery power shockingly.

I do the same thing when I'm at work with my phone on the desk. Saves quite a bit of battery for me, too. I don't seem to remember ambient display using so much battery on the original Pixel or Pixel 2.

Yep yep. I'm actually astonish, and surprised that always on ambient display uses that much battery. At first I didn't believe it or want to believe it. But, I will include my battery stats and it's just utterly amazing. I leave my phone face down on my desk, at home on my couch, or in bed on my bed. Basically on any flat surface. Even at the gym on the rubberized floor mats. I still get my notifications audibly alerting me flipping my phone over and ambient display automatically kicks in and I can visually see exactly what I need to turn my attention to. I can't believe this feature works that well! I've never turned my phone face over in the past until now... Tell me what you think.

Pretty cool. For you to receive alerts his sound when your phone is faced down I'm assuming you have flip to shhh disabled or else you wouldn't receive sound alerts since flip to shhh muted all notifications by temporary enabling do not disturb.

yep yep correct Sir! Now, at first, I was a little hesitant to disable flip to shush mode. But then I thought about the reasoning/logic behind it and it makes perfect sense. Flip the phone over does not go on do not disturb mode, still get all your audible notifications, sensor kicks off always on Ambient display. Flip the phone over to check notifications and Ambient display automatically turns on I can swipe away notifications I could care less about or just see any important notifications or continue going back to work. Once you get used to it it works out pretty well. I really forced myself to turn off always on ambient display like I mentioned before. However, that just disables one of the most important phone features to me. I don't want to have to highlight my lock screen just to see notifications.

Had to correct my pic... But I think that may be the best my P3 has performed for me... I actually need to do another check and see where things stand right now...
I do that every security update see battery stays same or better and performance lol

XL I'm assuming? I don't believe anyone with a regular 3 can get close to 4 hours screen time

Your welcome to search my posts I'm sure I've put up some screen shots with over 4 hours screen time .
And I could probably hit 5 hours if I didn't talk on the phone as much . Regular pixel 3 ....

You know what it's crazy but on my personal usage of my 3 XL, by flipping that screen over and not using the always on Ambient display all the time my battery life is absolutely insane.

Witchcraft!

I leave for work in the morning in the 90s% and get home from work on about 50% but probably only 45 minutes screen time. The ratio gets better with more usage in the evening but it's that drain from regular little checks/tasks that bugs me.

It doesn't say anything to me .
I'm going 14 to 15 hours on a charge with 5 hours talk and 4 hours screen time pretty consistently with 10 to 15% battery still leftover when I put it on charge . I'm sure with less talk time my screen on time would only get longer and longer .

How much can anybody reasonable expect from a days usage ?
Small phone small screen small battery

Big phone big screen big battery .

Still about the same overall battery life ether way .

I've tried all the s+ phones the notes the max iPhones . It's all about the same .
