Turning off 5G on att

Neither does Verizon.

To go one worse than....my stepson is buying an iphone 12 and Verizon is forcing him into a new plan that includes 5G even though 5G isn't available where he lives. I told him to use his old SIM to avoid changing plans but he already set the wheels in motion.
Odd regarding the iPhone. When I bought my V60, they didn't force me into a 5G plan.

I saw someone post recently that on Verizon, 5G falls under the "Global" network setting, and setting to "LTE/CDMA" deactivates 5G. I personally don't feel like paying extra for a service I'm rarely in or care to use, so I haven't tested it.

It's possible because the 5G Nationwide wasn't turned on yet they didn't push it with the LG.

Changing it to CDMA reverts back to 5G according to that same poster unless we're talking about two different people

Unfortunately he might not be able to. Case in point when I recieved my Z fold 2 for Verizon from Samsung I had to use the sim that came with the phone although I already had a 5g sim from my Ultra. On top of that they still charged me an upgrade fee. It should let him purchase the phone without upgrading to a 5g plan though as I have gUdp and it allows me to upgrade without changing plans although I have not tried purchasing the 12.

Just checked and it still lets you upgrade without switching plans. Of course they heavily suggest you switch lol. He should be able to take off the extra charge for 5g if he chooses.

I'm referring to an in store purchase of a pre-ordered Iphone in South Carolina. It doesn't make sense to me either but he doesn't seem to care.

I never had a problem using a prior SIM on other Verizon branded devices.

Makes more sense now. He was told that by a rep just like how reps use to tell me I couldn't keep my unlimited plan. Major reason I haven't been to a store in years. Much more pleasant experience online.

I told him just to get an unlocked one but he didn't seem to care enough so I let it go.

To access the AT&T screens, I thought special dialer code.
I'm not sure one is available in secret dialer code , and if there is one if it would stick. My comment for natively. I do remember a a network app back in the day you could do this but it was almost same as secret dialer but more options and sometimes would not stick also.

Years ago on BlackBerry PRIV, their first Android device, AT&T had issues with LTE so short term fix was to drop to 4G,3G, 2G or something like that but excluding LTE service

Sometimes I’d have to repeat 2-3 times in order to stick

The dialer code I found is *#*#46368676#*#*

Why would you want to? Because in the Highlands of Scotland we don't have full coverage 4G yet and will probably never have 5G that's usable, so if it saves battery then great question.... on a SIM free Samsung direct bought phone can I switch it off, and how please?

Since CrackBerry is slowed down, I’m just bored, in between client appointments. Hoping to be more helpful than problem causing. LOL

I turned off my 5g on my Note and kept track of the battery life and I was getting an hour more of screen on time with 5g off, recently I have turned it back on and I've noticed my note gets much warmer with 5g on when I use my phone for extended periods.
