Turning off icon badges

Is there any way to turn off icon badges for missed calls/texts either in TouchWiz itself or via root? I just don't like them. If I swipe away a notification, I don't want the badge still sitting there. It reminds me too much if iOS. *shudders*

(Yes, I did a search for it. Couldn't find anything.)

(Please don't reply with "Use Nova/Apex/whatever!" I actually like the TouchWiz launcher.)

So, you still want the notification icons to show up, but once you hit the "Clear" option from the Notification bar drop-down you don't want them shown - is that right?
I'm not running the stock ROM at the moment or I'd check the settings for those apps, but it seems like that should be the default behavior. The only icon badge that I was aware of that you couldn't make go away was the one for voicemail.

If they went away when I hit "Clear" or swiped them away, that would be great. Otherwise, I'd be fine with just turning off the little icon badges completely. I think they are redundant given Android's awesome notifications system.
