Turning off no signal alert?

Hey all,

Verizon pushed out an update a few months ago removing that annoying no signal alert. Is there any way to do this on the epic through some hidden menu, rom or trick?

Just out of curiosity, what are your roaming preferences set to? If you're set to Sprint only towers, you may hear that alert more often than if you're set to roam on other networks' towers too.

I have it set to automatic, but I work underground in a concrete building that just doesn't get much cell phone reception, I've been looking for the audio file in root explorer and can't seem to find it

Hmm... yeah, I've looked for it there too to no avail. Considering the fact that you work underground, it may be advisable to turn airplane mode on. You'll probably save you battery in the process too as your radios aren't constantly searching for a signal.

Yeah, don't really know what else to try other than that.

I know how it is being underground though, because when I go visit my grandmother in Maryland, when I stay in the basement, I get really horrible reception.

I second this. Its constantly going off while I'm listening to music and podcasts and that little tone makes me miss audio for a few seconds all the time. Its rather anoying.

I agree. The no signal sound is very annoying. I live in a high-rise building with a large 6-story parking structure. Every time I drive up and down the levels..The signal seems to fade in and out. I hear a chirp on every floor as I enter and exit the building.

It is rather annoying to click on airplane mode just to make it in or out of the parking structure.

I don't get any of those tones. I however have the system volume turned off. I can still hear alerts for all incoming messages, phone calls and media player but other than those, my phone is silent.

When I do this and I'm listening to media, there still is a pause in the audio to play the notification sound, even though it's silent. This causes a slight pause in the podcast and, again, is super annoying. I guess I'll live with it if there is no solution, but man it just seems like it should be a super easy fix.

i agree. i'd thought there would be a ROM out there by now that have removed that notification or provide an option to turn it off.
