turning off stock apps

I have the Incredible. How do I turn off the stock SMS notifier so I can use the SMS popup app Also, how do I access the downloads on my SD card

I use SMS Popup in addition to the stock app. I think you can't remove the stock app unless rooted. You can however, turn off notifications on the stock app. That way only SMSPOP will alert you and you can reply with SMSPOPUP or stock app.
