Twist Gesture with Google Camera?

Re: New Google Camera-vs-Stock Camera

Nothing great about it. Doesn't even support HDR on Moto X, which makes it pointless. HDR is the only mode that kinda saves crappy Moto X camera quality

I don't want to make it sound like I think the camera is consistently good because it's not, but HDR has allowed me to get some compliments on some of the pics I've taken with the Moto X!

As others have noted, you lose the twist to launch gesture, which I find I can't give up now that I've been using it. I love it. You do gain photosphere and blur. I might occasionally use blur, although realistically not a lot, and hardly ever would use photosphere, so I'm just debating now if it's worth keeping the Google camera loaded in my X, it takes up more storage than the stock Moto app (110 MB vs 5.20 MB).

Well, you don't lose the twist-to-launch gesture. It just continues to launch the Moto camera. I'm keeping both - Moto for regular/quick picture taking and Google for Photosphere and Lens blur. If I need to get fancy I'll launch Camera FV-5.

Oh, okay, I'll admit it. I also have Instagram for the cheap shot. :-)

If you are rooted and have Xposed installed then there is a module you can download that will allow you to pick whatever app you want for the twist gesture. It is called twisty switch.

For those of you that like the twist to open camera feature, have you tried swiping left to open camera from the lock screen to do the same?

The update to Google Camera has HDR.

Where? I don't see any setting for HDR on my Moto X Google Camera app.

Advantages of stock Moto X Camera app:
- HDR Mode
- Twist to launch
- Slow Motion Mode
- Tap anywhere on screen to focus and shoot
- Burst Mode

Advantages of Google Camera app:
- Photosphere
- Lens Blur
- Various Panorama Modes including Fisheye
- Exposure Compensation
- Self Timer
- Alignment Grid
- Resolution and Image size adjustments

So, I think it's worth keeping both loaded on my Moto X.

Tap the gear icon on the upper right hand corner of the Google Camera screen.
Don't see it

I have both loaded on mine. I use the camera shortcuts on the lock screen for Google's camera app, and the twist to open for motos camera app. It's been a good setup for me.

Hmm, I don't know. I have the same build number you have. Have you updated to Kit Kat 4.4.3? Maybe that's it

Can you please take a screenshot of the HDR option in Google Camera?

How strange...here's a screenshot of what I have. So, instead of HDR, I've got + or - exposure compensation (set by going into Settings/Advanced/Manual Exposure "On". I turned off manual exposure and HDR still doesn't show up.
