Behold a screenshot:

I was getting two notifications for everything - then I found there were two instances of Calendar, so I turned notifications for one of them (the "green" one) off. My hopefully not-too-stupid questions include:

- how the cheese whiz did I end up with two instances of Calendar,
- which one is the latest one,
- how do I get the other one offa here?

Thanks in advance!

One is the AOSP calendar. The other is the Google calendar. Don't know how you ended up with the Google calendar. All I have is the AOSP calendar.

You should be able to uninstall one of them.

disable the green calendar or if possible uninstall(very unlikely)

the blue one is the latest. to disable green calendar go to settings-->apps-->all apps-->calendar(green one)-->disable

Interesting. I did use Migrate from a Galaxy Nexus - could it have transferred the calendar app then?

Thanks, everyone, for the weigh-in about AOSP vs. GCal!

Update: green calendar disabled, but not un-installable. However, you have to leave "Calendar Storage" running, or you won't see any of your calendar entries (aha!)

If you have two calendars, one is the one that came with the phone and the other came from the play store. I might try to disable my green calendar. I think Motorola updates that one. I wonder if it got updated in Kit Kat...it looks like it, based on the version number in Kit Kat. If you try to turn off the notifications for the green calendar, it eventually automatically turns back on. I guess this is because the system thinks it's the main calendar. It's annoying having two, but it's no biggie.
