Two Different Screens?

I'm looking at upgrading from my Palm Pre to an Evo; however, I'm a little worried about the issue of there being two different screens used in production. Is it true that the newer screen being used is hardware locked at 30 fps and not a software issue that can be resolved by HTC or a root?

This video seems to indicate that: White HTC EVO 4G unboxing – Android and Me

Is that correct or off base? Is this something I need to look into when picking up my phone, is it a true bot kind of a non-issue, or is it a show stopper at this point?

Thanks

It is true for ALL screens. However it is not a hardware lock and restrictions have been removed for both screens already through a slightly complicated method that requires root. However not many people are bothered by the 30fps cap, games run just fine at 30fps for me.

In the video in the OP he claims that the 30 fps cap is hardware based for the "newer/crappier" screens at 3:30.

He is misinformed, that is what HTC originally told us. There are two screens, Novatec and Epson. Both have had their fps caps removed via software by the great developers over at XDA.
